No joke. That city is a mess. He probably didn't even have to piss anyone off.

No doubt... Crime rate is huge down there right now, (even when Ray Lewis is in Baltimore).

That's very sad news. When a man loses his life, I don't think its the time to knock the program.

I wonder if its fallout from the brawl with whoever the hell they were?

I think I predicted a driveby somewhere.

Baltimore isn't that much better, with or with out Ray Ray.

Miami football player shot, killed

By TIM REYNOLDS, AP Sports Writer
November 7, 2006

University of Miami defensive end Bryan Pata was shot and killed Tuesday night, shortly after leaving the practice field, according to a university official with knowledge of the situation.

The official, speaking on condition of anonymity because a formal announcement still was being prepared by the university, had no knowledge of the circumstances surrounding Pata's death.

Miami-Dade police refused to release specific information about what happened.

Pata, a 6-foot-4, 280-pound senior, took over the starting role at left defensive end for coach Larry Coker over the latter part of the 2004 season and had held it since. He was studying criminology.

Thats sad man, as long as he wasn't doing something egregious to the wrong kind of people, no one deserves that. what a shame.

He was studying criminology.Maybe he took an experiment a little too far.

Horrible year for Hurricanes on and off field.

The Orange Bowl is in a pretty bad area of town. Actually, most of Miami is pretty bad at night, but that area is really seedy.

Yes, the Orange Bowl is in a bad part of Miami. But the university itself is Coral Gables. A very affluent area.

I'm not sure where Miami actually conducts practice. Probably not on campus.

That's pretty shitty news. As much as I hate Miami I'd never celebrate something like this. :shake:

Pata was shot and killed at an apartment complex in Kendall which isn't near the Orange Bowl. Kendall is near Coral Gables and is normally a safe area of town.

By the way talk about completely classless in terms of some of the posts in this thread. If you want to hate Miami's football team, the university, whatever so be it... but to take it out on a 22 year old kid (a good kid also, into religion, stayed away from drinking, partying, etc) who has just been murdered is pretty pathetic.

No one is realy "taking it out" on him.

As anyone actually said, "He played for Miami? Well then he had it coming!!!"?

Come on, man.

Did you read the very first post in the thread? Essentially rationalizing the kid's murder because he played at Miami.

My question is, what do they put on the injury report? Unable to perform indefinitely?

maybe people wouldn't feel the need to make comments, if it weren't for all the criminals to come out of the u.
