I have been playing with Google Earth with my son tonight, and he has LOVED looking at Airports and Sports Stadiums.

We wanted to look at Pro Player Stadium where the Chiefs play this weekend, and I noticed the Endzones say IOWA and Someone ELse on the other endzone... any idea who else was playing there? And when this might have taken place?

Here's a blog that tracks all sorts of cool stuff that people have found on Google Earth.

I've always thought airplanes in mid-flight were interesting for some reason. Here's a jet refueling in midair, for example:

Iowa vs USC in the Orange bowl a couple years back.

What a killer app... I never really fooked with it before. I just looked up area 51... there is a huge crater there. Perfect for filming moon landing type films. heh.

I suppose it would be cool if everyone posted a pic of their house.

OK, that may not be very exciting from some of us.

There was someone back a few months ago that posted a pic in Korea that was a miniature mountain range.

Yep, IBP's still here. I actually think its exaggeration to a certain extent. You really don't smell it except on certain days, and even then it's just when the wind is right unless you're right by the place. The town smells like donuts (from Dolly Madison bakery) just as much as dead cows.

I wonder how old this is......

They're still showing the old Busch Stadium in STL......

They say that their images are 1-3 years old, but I've seen some that are definitely older than that. Prior to a couple months ago, their image of Arrowhead still had a dirt lot where lot L is now.

There are apparently a lot of Google Earth freaks out there, on more than a few sites. This one is pretty cool: http://www.googleearthhacks.com/downloads/

To me, the image overlays are awesome. There's one, for example, with old aerial photos of Pearl Harbor laid over the current view of it. The Arizona is burning in one photo, and as you use the slider bar to fade the picture out, you can see her still there on the bottom with the memorial above. Pretty powerful stuff.
