View Full Version : Mike Anderson / Broncos disagree
01-17-2001, 09:50 AM
Mike Anderson, the Broncos rookie running back wants his current contract torn up and redone. The Broncos say that rookie contracts are not done that way. Sounds like trouble. Darn, I really hate when that happens. NOT... especially where the Broncos are considered.

I think management has learned that it is the system and not the RB...

The part I hate about this stuff is that when a guy signs a contract, he obviously thinks it is acceptable at the time. Happy to make a ton of money and not eat MCD's every day...The owner is taking a chance on him being a dud..especially as a late round pick...
Mike Anderson should quit whining and honor his d@mn contract...
I'm getting really tired of millionaire athletes expecting us to feel sorry for them while it will take me 30 years to earn one year of their salary...
suck it up mike, you whiney biatch.

Uh oh, the "Cryin' Marine" is crying again. Typical...

It's not as bad as you guys are making it. Go to insidedenver or the post and read the article.
Denver tore up TDs contract after his rookie year and then did it again a year or 2 later. Anderson and his agent want Denver to consider giving him a new deal.
If they don't, then I don't think he will hold out. Plus, he just had arthroscopic knee surgery and they're waiting to see how that turns out.

"Cryin Marine"??? Where do you guys get your material?
I also disagree with the statement that "anyone" could be thrown behind that line and get 1,300 yards. It's funny, if it happens in KC - it's thanks to hard work and determination, if it happens in Denver - it's thanks to cheating and luck.
C'mon... you're beginning to disappoint me.

I completely agree with your opinion on all athletes except football. Football contracts are not guaranteed like basketball and baseball. Thus if the player does not perform up to the level that was expected then ownership will ask them to take a pay cut or waive them...So when a football player over performs their contract then they have every right to ask to tear it up and re-negotiate. But in basketball and baseball if you under perform you still get paid...

I tend to agree with jl80 on issues like Anderson's case. This guy was 3rd string (I forget the round, but something like 6th) and he wound up starting and kicking ***. Due to other questions and injuries, I think he should ask for a new contract.
Now, if Jamal Lewis were to turn around and ask Baltimore for a new contract, I'd say "sit the f*** down and shut the f*** up, you were a top 10 pick and expected to perform like one."

MHM, what do you expect, you're on a Chiefs BB...of course we can't give any credit to the abilities of other teams players...it MUST be cheating.... :D
The Broncos have some serious problems with the RB situation...problems I wish the Chiefs had...who do they keep, Anderson or Davis?...I don't see both of them being happy...as in your other thread, I say trade TD...
Anderson needs to play this year under his present contract with the gaurantee that if he performs half as good as he was this year he will get a new deal. ://www.geocities.com/cannibal1970/ebfinger03.gifdid

58... honestly, I don't expect anything else from this BB. It's all good.

I see your point, but still disagree.
A 6th round pick or a UFA are just happy to get picked up. I wish professional athletics were more "performanced based pay"...like a salesman etc...
He was more than likely jumping for joy for a half million dollar contract...it has to be better than 17K and 3squares a day....His agent should have had performance bonus clauses in his contract to cover this situation...
he signed the contract...He should honor his end, do his best and hope for a whopper when his contract is ended.
truthfully, I wish all pros had a base salary of $xxx dollars and performance based pay...its good enough for waitresses, telemarketers, business men, realestate agents, etc....
I guess i'm just frustrated by people biatching about "only being offered a 5year $50million contract...like its $4/hr.
Not feeling sorry for ANY!!!! pro athletes here in Iowania.
maybe i'm just Irrational because I work all year long for what they make in a game:) like the old Black Crow song "jealous Again"

What amazes me Morph is that there are people out there that can do all that crap with a PC...I'm just glad they share it so "computer dummies" like me can use them....

Since this thread seems to have changed topic, I'd also like to thank you, 58, for the site. Some very cool stuff ... a few disturbing ones, though. However, when at home, it's going to take me a few hours to load all of the posts!
~~Also a computer dummy.

The "Cryin Marine" comes from his response to losing to the Chiefs in Mile High this past season...
