Can anyone tell me why we didnt make a play for Sean Peyton?

He is a young and up coming coach with fire. Likes to go for the proverbal throat when he can... Gets his team up for the game and takes chances, Also, he "Plays to win the Game!"

Anyone?

Unproven commodity. Carl likes to go with what he knows.

If we were going to hire an offensive coach, it would have been Al Saunders.

He has taken a disfunctional Saints team. I should know, lived in LA for the last 4 years. Now has them playing great ball and very respectible..

My step father is a huge saints fan. Was glad to see Haslett go....

That's right. They weren't looking for an offensive coach.

No one was looking for Al has an HC.

The only other team looking at Payton was the Raiders I believe.

Next coach search, I'd like a coach that is at least balanced in between. Not a complete defensive or offensive coach.

We had way too many of that. It'd be nice to have a coach that is somewhat balanced in the middle between offense and defense.

Because Carl had his eye on Herm in August 2005 and couldn't care less who else was available.

CP doesn't take risks...he hires friends...that is why we're stuck with Herm and Gun...two of the most unimaginative coaches in the league

Thats why I hate the good oldboy network.

I remember after the chiefs/Jets game last year. I looked at my uncle and we both said that Herm would be our next coach.. We laughed and said no way.

Next thing you know, We are basking in the glow of a Herm lead team....

After Marty staged a mini-coup within the front office and won a behind-the-scenes power struggle during his final few years Carl doesn't want to risk hiring a coach who won't be a yes man for the King.

Vermeil (As much as I like Vermeil, he's a Carl-crony), Goonther and now Herm... all Carl cronies.

I don't think he or anyone with stones will want to be coach in KC as long as Peterson is there. Peterson is to KC what Al Davis is to Oakland.

You won't coach the Chiefs unless you are Peterson's yes man and home boy.

Hopefully some other board is saying the same thing about Haley in a couple years.

But hey, Parcells tree guys have now won 2 of the last 3!

This was before we had a legit front office in place... I trust the process... Just digging up some history...

One can only hope...

I wish I could of seen the epic meltdown at the beginning of the 2nd when the Saints kicked the onside kick...

I bet the game thread went bat shit....

As much as we talk about players, it's coaching that wins superbowls. He far outcoached his opponent yesterday.

Remember that wins go to those who go and SEIZE victory. For all those crucifying Belichick for going for it on 4th and 2 against the Colts this year, and all those other decisions by ALL coaches that show aggressiveness but don't succeed, keep that in mind. At least they are TRYING to win, instead of going by the book and meekly accepting defeat.

You play to win the game but the famous spokesman for that philosphy certaintly didn't coach that way.

No way King Carl was going to hire a Parcells guy. nada chance.

I think that aggressive philosophy was seen in Haley...i.e. the double pass that was horribly underthrown and picked off. Poor execution...great call.

Agree, I hope Haley turns out the same way.... Great coaching job last night.

Sean Peyton is a product of Dew Brees. Peyton manning would have made Herm Edwards a superbowl coach. As the QB goes the franchise goes and thats why the Chiefs are fucked !

Yeah except Sean Payton calls the plays and designed a great offense using players that aren't top teir. Saints have the best offense in the league but only brees is all pro. Payton designed a great system and is implimenting it. I wouldn't say he's a product of brees.

Wouldnt you rather of missed that and had a superbowl opportunity? Instead we ended up with the True Fan messiah and left with nothing but complete fail.

I would of rather had a championship.....
