I may be the only one interested, but this is pretty exciting development. At a minimum, I'm sort of keeping up with my friend's new cars (G35 coupes, 335i). Not that that's important. I'm shocked at how fast I made the decision. Test drove it and checked the insurance rate yesterday, was preapproved at a credit union this afternoon, and signed a purchase agreement an hour ago.

The g/f seems to think I should have it inspected. She also wanted me to buy a Passat wagon, but that's another story. The car ran great with no obvious problems. The seller is affiliated with Auto Specialists, and I would classify it/him as a quasi-dealer. Should I or shouldn't I?

Bob Dole had an '02 2.3CL and it was a solid car. Drifted a little more than Bob Dole likes through the corners, but it had enough poop to get Phobia a ticket.

Typically, the CL is the Accord a couple of years before Honda releases it.

Hmmmm, I wonder what Jake's input would be. I'm guessing it would involve buying a Saab.

HonestChieffan and NJ Chief Fan have taken up his slack, however.

At least from what I could tell, the S doesn't seem to have that problem. In fact, the sport suspension will take some getting used to.

It should be a nice ride then. That was the only complaint Bob Dole had about it. (And that would have been fixable with aftermarket parts if Bob Dole had planned on keeping the thing.)

As I recall Bob Dole is a fairly adamant car aficionado.` Most notably with his input on the Mazda roadster thread.

You didn't let him drive it to Mexico did you?

Never really found a German vehicle that Bob Dole wanted that was within the budget. Bob Dole likes the Audi TT, but the goofy name and the price tag scared Bob Dole away.

They still won't let me drive in Arkansas. Frick'n inbred trooper literally popped out of the trees after a tryst with his sister. I'm just glad he didn't catch me 3 minutes earlier - I'm guessing you do time for 110 MPH in Arkansas.

Yeah, first thing I think of when the name, "Audi" is brought up is: That car-chase scene in "Ronan." Best car-chase I've ever seen.

The S-8 what a spectacular car it was, especially with nitrous. Heh. now (if not mistaken) only available in Europe.

Looks like they're being reintroduced in the states for 2007. http://www.automobilemag.com/reviews/sedans/0602_audi_s8/

The Audi shouldn't be mentioned in the same thread as Acura. It's a disgrace to the rings.

Yep. I agree. I bought my first German car earlier this year in late Febuary. I went with a 2003 S-500. I love it. But I'd really love a 2007 Audi S-8. Looks like that'll be the trade-in answer during year 2008.

You can get a better deal at Carmax-better get a warranty-those things will kill you in repairs.

Bob Dole had his CL for just over 2 years and 25k miles and never had to do anything but change the oil and fill the gas.

Is it a manual or automatic. Honda has had a lot of problems with the automatic transmissions. There were a lot of recalls and new transmissions installed. Something about to much torque.

Meh...won't need any repairing. I have a '99 2.3 CL with 142K on it and it's never had anything wrong with it. I plan on driving it for a few more years. ...and the 3.2 is a better car from what I hear.

Buddy has an older 99 Acura 3.2 TL. Loves it.
Solid no problems mechanically.

My complaint . The back seat a little cramped if Adults are required to ride there.

Auto. I do way too much stop and go driving to strongly consider the 6-speed.

Honda/Acura extended the tranny warranty to 7 years/100K miles, so I'll be covered for the next 3 years. Something about a lack of thread-locking compound on the low clutch nut, whatever that means.

I certainly wouldn't want to ride in the back seat for very long. I mostly use it to haul my friends around while bar-hopping, so it shouldn't be a problem.

I had a CL back in the day. Had to sell it. It was too much of a chick magnet. I couldn't keep up with the demand for rides.

I'm speculating, but this may factor in to why the g/f wanted me to consider a wagon, or the baby Land Rover, or something less fun. It could also be that she plays bass in the symphony and wants me to consider a car that could haul said bass.
