Okay, I will be the editor. We are accepting nominations now.

Each movie mentioned will get a vote. Then the top 15 vote getters will be finalized and made into another poll where we can vote on the order.

Please list up to 10 films, but not over, otherwise I'll just take the first 10 I see.

How is a sports movie defined? We will be using a very relaxed interpretation of the genre. If the central plot of movie revolves around an athlete, coach, team, or fan it can be a sports movie. Pool counts, so does golf, and so does Fever Pitch. Chess does NOT count. Sorry, Bobby.

My list:

Field of Dreams
Raging Bull
Hoosiers
Rocky
Pride of the Yankees
Bang the Drum Slowly
Requiem for a Heavyweight
Rocky IV
The Set-Up
Million Dollar Baby

Even thought it's more of a documentary than a sports-related film, "When We Were Kings" is one of my favorites.

Nice point to bring up. Documentaries DO COUNT. This does not include documentaries about Bobby Fischer, however. Also, Iowanian, I'm not finding Visionquest on imdb.com. Home videos of Iowanian thanksgiving backyard football games do not count.

It's a small, independent movie came out a few years ago about a high school wrestler who has a father that really pushes him. It's about cutting weight, basically living the life. Really a wrestler's wrestling movie.

There's been two nominations of Field of Dreams so far, but none for Jerry. Also no The Sandlot yet. No Ali, Chariots of Fire, The Color of Money, All The Right Moves, the bobsled one.

Let me explain, I really liked karate kid, it was a great movie, but if you put it head to head with Bull Durham (for a great sports movie list) then BD wins hands down, meat.

It was the caddyshack of Baseball

Now if you want to change the thread name to best feel good story, then you get your karate kid, danielson.

Where's the love for For Love of the Game? Only Kevin Costner could make a movie that's both a sports movie AND a chick flick. This is a movie that can bring men and women together. He pitches a no-hitter AND gets the girl!
