Jacksonville at Kansas City: Both of these teams need the Jets, Bengals and Titans to all lose for this game to mean something. It's startling that a team as good as the Jaguars will miss the playoffs. The Chiefs are still feeling good about beating the Raiders for the eighth straight time. Kansas City has begun contract extension negotiations with RB Larry Johnson. Chiefs head coach Herm Edwards would like to blow-up the roster much like the Saints did last off-season and build towards the future. Even though he said Trent Green will be his starter next season, Green will have to take a salary cut and change his ways in order to keep his job.

I would agree with that.
However if this part is true:

Chiefs head coach Herm Edwards would like to blow-up the roster much like the Saints did last off-season and build towards the future.

Then he least gets that.

I agree with that idea wholeheartedly.

Wow, I'm shocked that someone with the Chiefs realises the roster should be blown up.

But.....as was once said "Carl Peterson will never allow that to happen."

"I don't see Wayne being held hostage by Nick Saban and for all I know he could elect to seek tampering charges or some sort of compensation from the U. of Alabama if this happens," said a source familiar with Saban's situation.

Tampering charges? WTF? Is there some kind of agreement between the NFL and the NCAA that prohibits that?

Green will have to ... change his ways in order to keep his job.

Anyone have any idea what he means by this?

Anyone have any idea what he means by this?

My guess is that means he's going to have to start making shorter drops and getting the ball out quicker.

Trent Green getting rid of the ball fast is something I expect to never see.......it's just his style to hold it forever, he always has.

But.....as was once said "Carl Peterson will never allow that to happen."

I think that depends on how Hermie intends to blow up this roster and how Carl feels kids like Pollard, Page, Webb, Stallings and Niswanger can compete.

Carl "blew up" the roster when he thought that Edwards, Woods, Tongue, and Browning were ready.

I don't think that's necessarily true.

That Rams game he took over for Warner in '99(?), he was getting the ball out quick.

I've always felt that Green was limited by his receiver's inabilty to get separation quickly.

I have 0 faith we'll ever have good recievers......our WR's have been shit for over a decade.

Two thoughts here.

First, I really think that Trent could have learned one thing from watching Huard.
When nothing opens up right away, just throw the ball in Tony's direction.
He'll make play on the ball for you.

Second, if Jarrett comes out early, I hope that he somehow falls to us, as the result of poor offseason workouts, or for any other reason.

I'd take a flyer on Justin Harrell in te second.

Mitch Holthus said the 2007 Chiefs will look much different than the 2006 team. Sixteen players over 30, alot of those will not likely be back

It's all good, I just wanted to jump on my soapbox and spout my opinion for awhile. I didn't expect to really change everyone's mindset, just to give my two cents worth too.

The whole roster doesn't need to be blown up?

The whole front office needs to be blown up. What difference does it make? Even if we blow up our roster, it's the same guys making the transactions for us anyway? Carl Peterson, Denny Thum, Lynn Stiles.

And we know the job those guys do.

The whole roster doesn't need to be blow up. But the list of definate keepers should be pretty small. DJ, Hali, Allen, Page, Colquitt, Croyle. Maybe a couple of more. But everybody else going into the offseason should be worried about their jobs here IMO.

The fact is that the front office isn't going to be blown up, so we, as fans, have to hang our hopes on a roster blow up, with the hope that the front office gets it right by accident.

Shouldn't someone be required to get the basic factual information in their first sentence correct before we give any credence to their speculation whatsoever?

Very good point. Tony G has really been the only true STAR reciever the Chiefs have had for almost a decade now.

I am not down on Trent like most-but would just hate to see him leave on a bad note-the guy has been a true Warrior.
