I haven't been on here in months and this isn't exactly the way I wanted to show my face again but....

Sorry if anyone finds these threads at all annoying.

My dad is fighting valiently his third bout with cancer and it's about to get him. My mom called me last night and I drove out here to see him. My two brothers are here too and my sister is flying in this morning. Dads at home, hospice is here around the clock and they figure he's down to his last hours. I just hoped he made it until I got here last night which he did, now I'm just hoping he makes it until my sister gets here.

He's mostly out of it and unresponsive but he did wake up at about 4:30 this morning and I think he knew I was here. Obviously we've known for a while that this was coming but that doesn't seem to make it any easier.

Anyway... if you pray, say one for him to go peacefully and stop suffering. He's a good man and he deserves peace. I pray he gets it soon.

Thanks all. Sorry to be a bummer.

My mother in law passed about a year ago pretty much the exact same way. The thing I remember most about that time is how wonderful the hospice folks were. Your father is getting the best you can give him.

Have strength.

Hey all... dad died at 11:55pm Wednesday night. He went peacefully after a long, hard fight. We were all there. It was incredible. As tough as it is, if anyone ever gets a chance to be with a loved one when they let go, be there. It's a life-altering experience. It really helps you get perspective. I can't imagine anything meaning more.

I can't thank you all enough for your words, prayers and support. I know without a doubt that it helped hm to go peacefully. This place is so much more than a football bulletin board. It's a community of friends brought together by a common interest.

God bless you all. I'll never forget your words on here. I think I'm gonna print out the whole thread for my mom too. It'll amaze her to see how so many people she doesn't even know were there for us.

Again, God bless you planet.

Now lets talk some football and lighten up... Dad wasn't one to dwell.
