To me this article hits it right on the head. I feel a lot of people are in the same state of mind.

This says it all in a nut shell (although God forbid our new face is another Jimmy Carter, instead of a G Ford);
"The nation needs today, as it got in Ford then, a president respected by both Republicans and Democrats who can restore trust in politics. It needs new faces and new ideas if it is to confront advancing crises of war, debt and entitlement reform. And it needs a president who can assume office in 2009 swimming in the political capital that only a mandate can bring. The nation needs a candidate who can win 55% or more.
And that will not happen with a Bush or Clinton on the ballot."

Anyone but a Bush or Clinton or Edwards or Obama or McCain or Dodd or Biden or Kucinich or Sharpton or Clark or Brownback or anyone acceptable to the anti-war movement (with the possible exception of Ron Paul and Bob Barr) or Nadar or anyone named Dole or Gore or Kerry and maybe a few others I can't think of.

I think that if he was a decade younger and if he hadn't already tried and failed twice, now would have been an ideal time for him to run on the issues of immigration and Iraq.

I agree that he is too old. But I can still dream lol

Ron Paul for President!
It would be hard for me to vote for someone who was willing to lose in Iraq, but in exchange for a radically new, libertarian direction for our country, I think I could do it. With the large caveat that I disagree with him on Iraq (more because of the consequences of a loss than for his opposition to the war in the first place), Ron Paul has always been my favorite Congressman.

:) I think he's younger than McCain, but I just think he was more vibrant a few years ago. Maybe it's just psychological on my part though.
