MO,

I think this place is becoming not so interested in this stuff again. The last UFC thread I posted got no responses while American Idol thread ran wild. That video is classic. Anyone that thinks they can just watch that stuff and apply it though is just fooling themself.

i didnt like mma/ufc for along time but ive been going w/ my buddies to watch them at the bar,and have grown to like it.

"Then you kick him in the balls", I like the one where he says "Im sorry sr buy you cannot say that about my wife.....so I break his leg". Bas Rutten is pretty funny. What does El Guapo mean for any spanish speakers out there.

Big_Daddy I agree with you. I love the UFC but thinking it is that easy to do that is a bit foolish and if you tried and messed up..........uh oh.

or better yet just dont mess w/ anyone. i knew a guy in HS that was 150 soaking wet. he could punch through a door and the drywall behind it & knock the china cabinet over on the other side.

I still wish they allowed kneeing tot head that bugs the shit out of me. Now that Pride looks like it is collapsing the amount of talent coming into the UFC is amazing. The next one is loaded with talent. I should be the best UFC yet. THe card is not complete but what they have looks incredible.

My little town had the Vaught family. They were all very small and very fast. You didn't mess with the Vaughts.

They did a newspaper article in my hometown of Medford Oregon. They were wondering if we were becoming too violent as we has more martial arts studios per person than anywhere else on the West Coast. I have no idea how anyone would know something like that but whatever. Truth is you never really knew who you were messing with but we usually did anyway. Good times.

I think there's still plenty of interest. The reason your thread got no response was due to the fact this (http://chiefsplanet.com/BB/showthread.php?t=157652) one was already started...

that's odd, how do they know that the studios aren't reducing violence?

The Yakuza got involved in Pride. The owner died under mysterious circumstances then they started fixing fights and they lost all credebility. They brought it here but it looks like it is too late because the UFC has all the money. I just hope they stay above water long enough for someone to come around with enough money to bring back the talent. Either that or the UFC adopt Pride rules with the exception of the cage. That will never happen though the guys the run the UFC have ego's bigger than several small states.

is that something you heard or can I read about it somewhere?

Pride really hasnt fallen off all that much. Yes, Crocop going to the UFC is a big deal but Pride still has both Emelianenkos, Nog, Barnet, & Hunt in HW. LHW is in flux right now but the Chute-box and BTT stables will keep this division competitive.

I think Pride was pretty much done with Rampage and Herring. Rampage will benefit from a cage and will be successful. Herring has never impressed me all that much. I doubt he will amount to anything in UFC HWs

Bushido is Pride's top earner in Japan. They have a lock on the LW talent (Gomi, Hansen, Aurelio, Kawajiri, Melendez) and the MW division is very good also. As long as Bushido sells well in Japan, Pride is not dependent on the US market.

UFC will make a lot of money from CC, A. Silva and, Rampage. Pride still has a lot of talent. I hope both companies have a bit of turnover, it will keep things interesting.

It's pretty common knowledge, I am sure if you do some searches you will come up with it. Casino's quit covering Pride fights when Emelianko's manager feared for his life and sent him back to Russia once. The owner offing himself under suspicious circumstances in a hotel was well covered. You notice you don't see him anymore? After all this shit the network that covered Pride dropped them. Their only chance to still make it was coming to America which is pretty sad considering the Japanese fans are like 10,000x more worthy of watching the matches. Pride still has some fighters under contract. I believe Fedor only has one fight left with them. It should be interesting to see if they can save some of their fighters. I'm routing for them. I am not sure if they put out odds on the last fights in Vegas. I know they been cut off for awhile before that though.

Its like watching Kindergarden Cop with ball kicks.

"Who is youwah daddee and whadoes heeee Doooo" ball kick ball stomp"

I'd liked to have spent an hour or two of 1 on 1 time with a guy like that when I was about 15.

It could be a good thing if it's done right. Imagine running the two as an AFC vs NFC. Each organization will have its champion and at the end of the year you have a Super Brawl. Rules will be based on the winner of the previous year's match.
