DV got good reviews

Bryant Fumble didn't, I agree, couldn't stand his play-by-plays.

ONE *

Bryant Gumbel, NFL Network
The network couldn't find anyone in the allotted time, so they picked Gumbel, a decent studio talent who has no feel for football play-by-play. He just doesn't understand it, and he embarrasses whomever he's working with by his howlers. Even worse, though, he brings the level of the show down by constantly trying to switch off the action on the field and onto whatever topic strikes his fancy, or perhaps an extended interview with one of the anchor team, sometimes omitting play-by-play entirely.

BG needs to never announce a game ever, worst ever!

I'm finding I agree with dr. z more than almost any other mainstream media guy, this is another example. Dick did good, so did gannon. Jaws too, love how he called out Randy Moss, I was thinking that as a possibility then he said it.

But BG, geezzzzzzz it was so annoying.

I agree with the praise for DV and Jaws, the slams of Gumbel and the ESPN crew.

But how did he know what Theisman knew and declined to reveal? I assume Joe told him (?) So he turns around and burns Joe with that anecdote?

Or did Rowen tell him? Or did an anonymous ESPN production assistant tell him?

hey dumbass, when a team is punting, they're not "giving it up on downs".

He had some classic one liners that were just a joke.

like the "3 min warning", the "shot clock" and some others i cant remember.

I've tried to forget them, but I remember losing focus on the game to say, "what did that idiot just say?" way to many times.

I enjoy Vermiel, excellent refreshing perspective to most of the tools that you see on espn that rant endlessly about TO, Moss, or romo.

I agree, has a great sense of the game and communicates it very well to us commoners.

I'd love to hear Vermeil say one of his gems like "Grow out our package and let them bang around" and yet still be ten times smarter than the other ESPN retards

And kicking the current A crew to wrestling matches on Spike TV.

Ravens visiting Chiefs.

McNair pulls his offense up to the line of scrimmage, third and inches. Takes snap and sneaks a foot for the first down.

Thiesmann: "You know, I never was very 'sneaky.'"

All in the booth giggle.

Nessler/Vermeil/Jaws was the greatest broadcast I've ever seen.

The MNF crew is the worst.

Not a big fan of Dr. Z, but I'm glad he gave some recognition to Tim Ryan and Brian Baldinger. I don't watch a lot of FOX NFC games, but both of them are brilliant and underrated color guys.

Thats why i like reading this column each year. He gives props to the crews that dont get alot of big games and play. He also calls out the overrated crews like Madden and Michaels..
