View Full Version : How often do you read a whole thread?

A comment in the movies thread got me thinking. If a thread is real long before you join it, do you read it all and get up to speed before posting... or do you just read the thread starter, maybe the first few posts and go ahead and weigh in?

I have to admit, if a thread is more than 3 or 4 pages long before I get in on it I generally just read the first page maybe and then skip to the end.

I'm a lazy American.

I'll read the last page or two. Especially the 10pm thread or the 12:30 thread.

Quite often.

The question should be how long do you commit threads to memory, or somesuch.

To answer your question, however, if I decide to click on a thread, I read through every post before I respond.

By doing that, I only look like a dumbass only about 95% of the time.

I don't remember anything much once I read it. I've forgotten this post already.

Always read the thread topic and the latest posts if the thread is over a page (of 50) long. I will be adding my opinion at that time and that is all that matters to me. If someone else has already stated it, then I would be obviously supporting that sentiment. If everyone hates my idea, I'll get upset yell a few obscenities and leave.

Dude, your posts per day count is dropping dangerously close to 70 per.

That simply will not do.

I read a lot of the long threads. Usually, I'm looking for Mr. Baby Lee posts. It's like an inexpensive, on-line, self-improvement course.

And, not to dwell on the obvious but, has there ever been a thread in which Mr. crazycoffey participated that was not at least 50 pages long?
