I used to love this place called Sub & Stuff... they had the best friggin philly cheesteaks in history.... well, Wichita at least.

Since they have been closed down for several years now I have had to endure several restaurants who "think" they can do a philly right. So far noone has come even close.

Anyone here know of any good places that make a good philly here in Wichita?

Either that or a killer Pastrami & Swiss sammich.

No idea.

But I do enjoy a King's X waffle.

I know this isn't any help but there's a place in Springfield (national chain) called Lenny's that makes killer cheesesteaks.

I just called my junk food expert in Wichita, and he said he knew of none.

We have a little franchise chain up here called Charlies. They have an awesome Philly. Everyplace else around here puts Italian beef under some cheese and passes it off.

I've never had a good Philly cheesesteak sandwich. I guess I need to go to Philly and try a real one before I judge.

Just don't put green peppers on a Philly. They don't belong there.

TIA.

The brothers that owned it sold out, one died and the other is retired. His daughter had a bar over on south meridian named Kristys or Kristens something like that. He would cook the Oasis burger once a week. That has been a few years back. The Oasis lounge serves just another bar hamburger now.

Steak?

Ummm...
BitD I made a pretty mean concoction with;

Steak-umm, bell pepper, onion, pepperoncini [or raw jalepeno, if I had it around], all browned together.
Hoagie roll, toasted
lay down a layer of queso-blanco on the toasted roll
spoon the browned meat/veg over the cheese.
coupe de grace, a liberal salting with Zatarain's Seasoning'n'Herbs.

I used to play a lot of golf with Ray, the brother that died. I thought everything had continued the same, but I have been gone over a decade now. Thanks for the update RNR!
Crazy thing, Ray died on the way home from shooting his lowest round ever. :(

Yup... to Quiznos for 500,000 after they filed for bankruptcy.

Ohhh well, thanks for the help. I'm bound to find a decent sammich shop that is not a friggin national chain.

Quiznos - Bleh
Schlotskys - Meh
Jason's Deli - Alright On Occasion for a Pastrami
Any Restaurant - GAG... I'm tired of people trying to make the Philly a fancy sammich.

GIMME SOME GREASE DAMMIT!!!

Ever try www.jerseyboyz.com??

I think the only one left is in Stanley. Kick ass philly cheesesteak sammiches. They use philidelphia cream cheese in the sammich.

You could be the solution to the lack of a great Philly in Wichita. They have damn good food and they're franchising.

Sub and Stuff.

There was a place in the food court at the mall in Witchita off of Rock Road that had awesome cheesesteaks. Was that the name of the place? If it was, that's too bad. Great sammiches.

I know this doesn't help anyone here, but if you're ever in Philly you need to get a realy cheesesteak. I swear there is a difference. I don't know what it is, because there are local shops around here in Central PA that are damn close, but for some reason the one's I've had on South Street are that much better.

One place in particular, can't recall the name, Johnny's or something, was AWESOME. NOt only was it a good sandwich but you get the authentic Philly experience. You step right up to the grill and order with one of the cooks. And you have to know what you want or they mock you and make you get back in line...which is long.
