Just as a general idea, get a small one in an easy to conceal place like the shoulder etc. at first to see how you like it.

I'm a drummer of 20 years. The drumming of John Bonham changed my life and inspired me greatly as a young drummer. I'm considering getting the what is a basically one measure of music on my left arm. The intro to Led Zeppelin's "When the Levee Breaks"

How long have you been considering it? I'd give it at least six months. I thought about getting one several years ago. I'm now glad I reconsidered, but it's something I'll never rule out entirely.

I'm glad you've given it alot of thought. Thats what held me up too. I could never make a decision. Have you figured out where you want to have it done? We'll need pics of course after it's done. :)

I could really relate to the Song.....(but I wouldn't do it the tatoo).....One of their best songs.

Saw a Great show in Chicago 1977 at the Ampitheatre (Hockey Stadium)....

http://www.ticketspecialists.com/concert/led_zeppelin_tickets.htm
In 1977, Led Zeppelin embarked on another massive U.S. tour, again selling out up to 5 nights in cities like Chicago, Los Angeles and New York. (Seattle and Cleveland shows from this tour were the basis for highly regarded bootleg albums.) Following a show at the "Day on the Green" festival in Oakland, the news came that Robert Plant's son Karac had died from a stomach infection. The rest of the tour was cancelled, and superstitious critics whispered of a "curse" said to be related to Page's interest in the occult.

The radio wouldn't play the song, after flood of '93 in STL.......

Either that or you could do the Beastie Boys sample of it in the classic "Rhymin and Stealin"

I got my first last summer at age 37. I love it. Got a fancy red "R" (my daughters name is Raven) with raven wings coming out from behind it, on my inner right forearm. She thinks it rocks as do the rest of my friends.

Gonna get a cross with my dads name in it to memorialize him on the left upper arm soon.

I love ink. I even loved getting it. The "pain" was theraputic.

I say go for it and don't worry about what the naysayers think. If it works for you that's all that matters.

I've got 4 and don't regret a one yet.

Seems you have given it much consideration... now it is just a matter of finding a good shop to take care of it for you.

Talk with as many people as you can about where they got their work done. See a shitty one? Ask them where they got it and when so you know where to avoid. See a really good one... do the same thing.

Make sure you visit the shop prior to actually sitting down for ink and check the place out. See them do the work on someone else if you can and check if they are using sterile equipment and needles right out of the med containers.

A good tattoo is not a cheap tattoo. Be ready and willing to shell out some money for the ink work.

I really want barb wire around my bicep.

And a tribal design on your lower back right above the crack of your ass, right?

no never have....too many folks my age that have.. do regret it......
the simple designs then... may be the factor now....

I like it as a way of represent your musical ideas. When the Levee breaks ....good choice. Other things that would convey the idea with out the INK ????

The cost to do now and maybe Un-do later in 20-30 years may be a consideration is all.

You know...I was giving that serious thought, but that insignia, to me, represents Bonham more than his drumming, and John was not someone I really wanted to fashion my life after.

You know, an English farmer with alcohol and temper issues. All that death-by-Vodka stuff.

add sticks to it...? I don't know how you could represent his drumming without representing him...good luck

I have one tat, and I got it when I was 18 I'm 23 now. I'm going to get my second one whenever I get my tax money back. With my first tat, I wanted to get it for a couple years, so I finally got it and don't regret it at all, and the second tat that I am going to get I have also been wanting to get it for a while.

I've heard several people say that. I had to sign something stating that I was not under the influence of drugs or especially alcohol. The guy I went to said that he would never tattoo anyone who he thought was even remotely buzzed. Alcohol thins your blood, and you bleed when you get a tattoo.
