What does that have to do with which car is built in the US? Sounds like someone is trying to cover something up.

So basically even though Toyota is "new" (as far as manufacturing) to America it is catching up nicely while GM is closing plants and putting people out of work.

Luckily for those people, Toyota's run correctly so they'll be hiring more and more people as they take off more and more.

Good news!

The thing has always got on my nerves is how little I feel they really innovate. I think they have come up with some great ideas, but in the end just dump them and stick with the SOS. I mean they have been building electric cars for years, and Toyota steals their thunder with an overpriced hybrid? Just weak.

I'm saying it has a lot more to do than just one car..... The Camry on the track today doesn't share one part with the Camry on the road.... They shouldn't even have an actual car name on any of them...

WHO Builds the battery?

A123 in Massachusetts

http://www.a123systems.com/html/home.html

Watertown, Mass. A123Systems today announced that it will supply General Motors Corp. advanced Lithium Ion batteries optimized for plug in hybrid vehicles through its Tier 1 partner, Cobasys LLC.

A123Systems’ batteries will be evaluated in prototype Saturn Green Line Vue plug-in hybrid SUVs later this year. GM recently announced its intention to produce a Vue Green Line plug-in hybrid SUV that has the potential to achieve double the fuel efficiency of any current SUV.

“We are committed to offering commercially viable, sustainable and safe alternative vehicles,” said , GM’s newly appointed director of hybrid energy storage systems. “In order to do so, we need battery suppliers that can provide us with durable and reliable batteries that help us accelerate production-ready designs. We look forward to the testing and development stages with A123Systems.”

Last month, A123Systems was awarded a $15 million development contract by the United States Advanced Battery Consortium (USABC), an organization composed of DaimlerChrysler Corporation, Ford Motor Company and General Motors Corporation. USABC awarded the contract in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to optimize the A123Systems proprietary doped nanophosphate battery technology for hybrid electric vehicle applications with a focus on systems that are high-power, abuse-tolerant, long lasting and cost effective.

“We are looking forward to working General Motors and Cobasys on this program” said David Vieau, president and CEO of A123Systems. “Our work with the world’s largest automaker will help validate the durability, reliability, safety and value of our battery technology and the overall market viability of alternative energy vehicles.”

A123Systems’ automotive-class battery technology offers numerous unique features for plug-in electric vehicles including: higher energy density than traditional lithium-ion HEV cells while having one of the highest power to weight ratio of commercially available batteries; low impedance growth even at very high charge and discharge rates ; outstanding calendar life; novel design that withstands extreme shocks and vibration; excellent performance over a wide temperature range; and an intrinsically safe chemistry which is especially important in large batteries.

A123Systems will be working closely with its partner Cobasys, a joint venture between Chevron Technology Ventures LLC, a subsidiary of Chevron Corp. and Energy Conversion Devices, Inc., which will provide its expertise in battery pack design and integration to deliver a complete system as Tier 1 supplier to General Motors.

A123Systems will be working closely with its partner Cobasys, a joint venture between Chevron Technology Ventures LLC, a subsidiary of Chevron Corp. and Energy Conversion Devices, Inc., which will provide its expertise in battery pack design and integration to deliver a complete system as Tier 1 supplier to General Motors.no mention of the 2009 volt?

Yea, at Bolivar and Lebanon. Just 3/8 mile asphalt tracks and the street stock division but it was a blast. It was the most fun I ever had with my clothes on.
One of the bad and/or good things (depending on how you look at it) about that division was nobody was too worried about swapping some paint. Usually there was at least 20 cars that started the feature race, sometimes 25, and it got real crowded on the track, especially Bolivar Speedway.

Mark Martin is a solid preformer. 2ND place is still good. He stays in the top ten most of the time in the races.

It sucked to see Martin come up short again. I'm going to go **** my seventeen old girlfriend to blow off some steam.

I can't help but think that if Jr. had been in Mark Martins spot the yellow flag would have been thrown before the checkers. :cuss:

First race I've ever watched.

Highly entertaining.

Wrecks were sick. Fires are cool. And Dale Jr is good at driving with the hood bent up over the windshield.

Very cool! just got back! Had all but gave up on Harvick but then out of nowhere he makes the charge. Less Harvick I would have pulled for Martin. Kind of think he got the shaft as they could have thrown a yellow as the wrecks were happening while he was still leading. Anyway as a Harvick fan for him to sweep the weekend is very cool!I think it is the first time someone has won both races.

they said on the race that it is the 4th time. Dale Jr did in 2004, and 2 others had done it.

Thats cool I did read in the paper that the worst starting position to win 500 was 33rd Harvick started 34th.
