I'm seeing lots of threads indicating that they have restructured Manning's contract to free up 8 mill, plus restructuring of Mathis has also freed up quite a bit.

Figures of 15 mill under the cap seem to be going around on the Colts forums, but I still can't find any links to verify the exact numbers.

I live in Indianapolis and I find it hard to beleive they would have done that and we wouldn't be hearing about it here. There has never been a word ever said about restructuring Manning's contract the entire time he's been here. And every year someone good is let go. Probably same thing will happen this year.

I suspect Colts forums are as realiable as Chiefs forums when it comes to people pulling info out of their ass.

June might be our best FA prospect this offseason...

Peyton Mannings Base Contract was $1,000,000 dollars this year with a $10,000,000 bonus, thats definitely a restructuring of the contract...

...Here it is if you don't believe me.

From the supplied link.

2007: $1,000,000, 2008: $11,500,000, 2009: $14,000,000, 2010: $15,800,000, 2011-1212: $14,000,000, 2013: Free Agent. Manning signed a seven-year, $99.2 million contract on 3/2/2004. The deal included a $34.5 million signing bonus, but by structuring the deal over seven years, the Colts were able to spread out the hit on the salary cap over the life of the contract. Manning converted a $10 million roster bonus to a signing bonus in 2007.

There was a brief local blurb about Manning doing this because he knows he needs a defense to win another one. I hadn't heard anything about Mathis but it wouldn't surprise me. Without Freeney to draw double teams, Mathis would be in trouble.

As for June, if you liked Edwards you'll like June. He's a cover LB that's a weak tackler but does have a nose for the ball. He will probably be available since they don't seem to keep LBs.

The really interesting Colt FA is Dom Rhodes. I could easily see him going to Denver and making things interesting for the Chiefs.

Thats interesting, do you consider Donnie Edwards a weak tackler though? Because Donnie Edwards averages 131 Tackles per year when hes healthy (9 healthy seasons 2 non healthy).

Personally I like Donnie Edwards. He doesn't get the 'jacked up' hits but he's always around the ball. Same with June. There are people on this board though that had major problems with Edwards and his tackling ability. The usual claim was he'd tackle the runner 5 yards downfield. The same goes for June. He's not a run stuffer, he's a cover guy.
