The Broncos' newest cornerback might not be happy with his new surroundings.

The Washington Post, citing several NFL sources, including some who have spoken with Dre' Bly, reported Monday that Bly was upset at being traded by the Lions to Denver and wanted to go to Washington, instead.

The Redskins also were trying to trade for Bly, the newspaper reported, but couldn't match Denver's offer of two players and a draft pick.

According to The Post, once Bly was dealt to Denver, Washington tried to negotiate a trade with the Broncos, offering cornerback Shawn Springs, but the teams couldn't work out a deal when Denver couldn't give Washington salary cap help.

Citing unnamed players, The Post reported that Bly is miffed at being in Denver because the Broncos are unwilling to extend his contract, which has one year and $4.2 million remaining.

The Redskins, however, reportedly were willing to give Bly a lucrative new extension, The Post reported. And playing with the Redskins would allow Bly, who is from Chesapeake, Va., to play close to home.

Bly, 29, is considered one of the game's best big-play cornerbacks. In eight seasons he has intercepted 31 passes, forced 17 fumbles, and scored eight touchdowns (five interception returns, two fumble returns, one punt return). Last season, Bly tied for the Lions' team lead with three interceptions and led Detroit with 18 passes defended and four forced fumbles.

Lions did him wrong. Millen is such a bad GM.

What a little bitch. He gets to play opposite of arguably the sports best corner (yeah, it hurts saying it...) with a better chance than he would ever have had to reach the postseason in Washington or Detroit, and he whines because $nyder would have given him more money. That's nice and all, but I don't think he's going to go hungry in Denver.

Go ahead and retire, Bly. Worked wonders for Jake.

I think the best way for him to "get back" at Denver....is to loaf in Division games.

im so tired of hearing guys who are playing football for an excellent living whinge about their circumstances. If you wanted control over your trade destination you should have included that in your original contract. Didn't have the leverage for that? Then you're playing on the same terms as everyone else who is replaceable. Suck it up.

What a maroon. With Baily on the opposite side he's likely to get more int chances then he would've ever gotten in DC. Not to mention playoff potential.

As long as he doesn't get hurt, he could be in position for a Clemments style contract.

I just saw it. The thread title, combined with the fact that you can't search for "Dre" or "Bly" (they have too few letters) led to this repost.

Sorry.

How did the Lions do him wrong?

The guy asked to be traded to a team that plays a defense that was better suited to his style of play. They let him seek a trade. He wanted to go to the Redskins but they couldn't offer Detroit as much as the Broncos could. Detroit takes the best offer. Who cares what cry baby Bly wanted.
