View Full Version : Can the Raiders O-Line really get worse?

Per John Clayton :

Raiders on center: The Raiders signed 49ers center Jeremy Newberry to a one-year, $1.5 million contract to give them some depth at the position. They aren't completely sold on Jake Grove and don't want to go to Adam Treu, the deep snapper, if Grove struggles or gets hurt. Now, the Raiders have to look for a right tackle to replace Langston Walker, who left for the Bills. They will look at Jordan Black of the Chiefs.

Tampa is also looking at Black, and they signed Pettigout

I hate the Raiders as much as anyone, but their situation has reached a point where it's downright sad. I mean, playing the Raiders isn't fun anymore because there's practically no chance of losing to them. At least in the past there was some excitement/anticipation/uncertainty to playing against them.

What if Black was mis-used here? I'd hate to see him turn into a solid O-lineman for someone else who would let him stay and grow in one position.

Just playing devil's advocate.

Didn't they almost beat us in at least one of the games last year?

There is no doubt in my mind he was mis-used here. Black had no business at tackle but the Chiefs had no choice. He will be a pretty good guard IMO.

Notice these teams are looking at Black as a guard.

At KC, if Moss had not given up, I think they would have won.

I think Steve is a Bronco fan.

It seems like no matter how good or bad the Raiders/Chiefs are, games between them always come down to the wire (except that one when Priest was hurt and it was raining and KC couldn't score for shit). Two season ago was the LJ td leap on 4th down.

Is that how you read that?

We don't have a leg to stand on slinging smaq at piss-poor o-lines, even if it is the Raiders.
