Whew. After researching this puppy for 18+ months, I finally ordered a new TV this afternoon. In order to force myself to need one, I had given away two 27" TVs (1 to the current g/f, 1 to the last g/f).

$1100 from MacMall with $80 shipping.

Moving to a loft-like apartment near downtown St. Louis. This will look killer on the fireplace mantle. Also attached, gratitiously, is a pic of my kitchen.

That looks like a nice kitchen for an apartment.

Enjoy the TV, I'll be over in a couple days, after you've set it up.

You know that when you break up with a girl, you aren't obliged to give her a TV, right?

It's a really killer apartment, especially for the money.

New hardwood floors throughout, stainless appliances, W/D, granite countertops, gas log fireplace, walk-in closet, fenced in courtyard where I can have a grill. It's pimp.

A 27" TV is, what, the cost of a decent meal & a couple drinks? It's nothing.

Both were given away in the early stages of the relationship, when I was moving.

You are my long-lost twin.

The same TV will arrive at my house tomorrow afternoon and be placed on the fireplace mantle.

I currently only have basic analog service, but I've heard the QAM tuner will pick up a number of digital and HD chanels through TWC in my part of the country.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Thanks for the link.... they were a excellent resource in my search, although they seem a little slanted towards Pannys. In the end, I'd prefer the Pioneer but not for the price difference.

It'll be nice not having to shell out for a calibration DVD.

Thanks! It's 1.5 miles from work and within walking distance to a number of good restaurants and bars. I could walk to Busch and Savvis if I wanted to. The best part... no shared walls.
