"The first time I said never, I ended up coming back, but I can say that there's a 99.9 percent chance that I am not coming back," he said.

Jordan's agent, David Falk, ridiculed the report.

"I think that there is less than one-tenth of 1 percent of a chance that Michael will play again in the NBA. When you hit the last shot in the last second of his last game for a three-peat, how do you top that?" Falk told the Boston Globe.

Cody, maybe I'm reading too much into this....Joe

Cody, I'm sorry , but Jordan ain't comin' back. And Barkley is so overweight, I can't tell him from (t)Witlock!

I read and heard opposing reports on this, but gut feeling says: "Ain't gonna happen."

Cody, I don't think it will happen, but even if it does would it be a good thing? I think it's cool that the best BB player I ever had the pleasure of watching went out as "on top" as could possibly be.

On a side note, I was just watching ESPN and David Aldridge said Jordan hasn't been working out other than playing some pick-up games. Who the hell does Michael Jordan play pick-up ball with? Does he go up to the middle school on Saturday looking for a game? Get home by 2 because his wife wants him to cut the grass and pick the kids up from soccer? I'm just having a hard time picturing this. I'm sure there are some great courts in Chicago and DC, but one would assume that the play would be a bit below his level.

I think it is very likely. One thing is certain - if Michael wants to come back, he'll do it. The NBA will spread eagle on the ground to give whatever he wants to do it, too.

MJ is a very competitive guy who known nothing but grief since taking over the Wizards. That must be driving him insane. He simply isn't very good at anything but basketball. But when it comes to BB, he's probably STILL better than anyone else out there. If Jerry Krause wasn't the biggest f#cking retard in the universe, MJ would likely still be playing here. It'll be weird to see him on the court not wearing a Bulls uniform.

Obviously, he never should have retired, the first time or the second. Had he stayed here, he could be working on his 10th ring instead of having pipe dreams about the Wizards doing anything with or without him. Oh well.

Hey guys-

MJ cut the tip of his finger off (with a cigar cutter of all things) a year or so ago, and it has considerably diminished his ability to even palm the bb.

Thus affecting his shot, ball handling abilities, etc.

Last note I received (3-10) warned me of this story and threw in that he was up to 230 pounds.

I blew it off thinking it was crazy. Looks like I owe the guy a box of #10's now.

Cody - Double edged reports to say the least....

Barkley is basically saying there is no way "It would take EXTRORDINARY circumstances". He is over 300 lbs, and in no way will be ready to play. He wasn't ready to play in his final season last year.

Jordan is 99.9% sure he is not returning, per himself. He would have to release ownership of the Bulls (The NBA is much more strict than LeMieux and the NHL).

The only person I see him saying he is coming back is a reporter who has heard that he and Charles are playing one on one against each other. The reporter even admits that he has not spoken with Jordan on the matter.

While I am a Michael fan through and through (nothing outside of my BIG 10 was more exciting than watching Michael and Co. stomp Ewing and Thompson in '82 for the NCAA title), I just don't see it happening.

If true, you own the "Prediction of the Year" award. I thought you were crazy when you first posted this, now...

If people think this can't happen:

Even the mighty MJ WITH Barkley can't save the Wizards. The LAKERS are BBs team of the future. They just got Fischer back. That brings MUCH better D back and he scored 26 points his first night back. They will also get back Kobe, Rider and Harper in the next week. They will be Western Conference champions and National champions AGAIN.

GO LAKERS

Just a slight correction, Russ: he's part owner of the Wizards.

isn't that the way it goes; nobody will come watch the Wizards with Jordan as owner, and he doesn't make as much. If he comes back, they sell out every game, but he wouldn't profit because he had to give up his ownership to play.

Talk about a 'Catch 23'. ;)

Also, I believe the score in '82 was something like 63-62, not quite a stomping. Remember, if not for the Grbac-esque crosscourt pass by the hoyas(picked off by James Worthy), MJ, The Dean, Worthy & Co. may well have lost to Georgetown.

MI,

The NBA has too many freakin rules. Why can't you own part of a team and play on it too? STUPID. Why can't you come off of the bench if your breaking up a fight and not getting in it? STUPID. Whatever you do don't talk bad about the officiating no matter how bad it gets. It kills me when they fine Shaq for complaining about the officiating. If anyone had a right to bi tch it would be Shaq. They foul him almost every time he touches the ball and no call, unbelievable.

A few points:
1) I don't know why you can't be an owner/player
2) You can't leave the bench because the league doesn't want any 'brawls'.
3)What league allows you to publicly criticize officials? Not saying I disagree, because it's perfectly alright to criticize owners, other players, coaches, even fans, but officials are OFF LIMITS in all sports, not just the NBA.

MI,

I realize that they want to stop brawls but it is not like there have been a whole of them anyways. All the rule has accomplished is hurting teams who's players start to come off of the bench and either go back or break up the fight. A prime example is the Sacramento Kings last night. This is a VERY close race in the West and I would hate to have them removed because of last night. I think they will fail anyways but I want my team to win it and not to have it forfeited to them.I guess the NBA can't figure out who was helping the situation and who was contributing to the problem.(freakin morons) This officials thing is really annoying as well.
