View Full Version : Time for the Big 12 Swoon

03-15-2001, 11:23 PM
Its only fair. Iowa State just froze up.

03-16-2001, 05:59 AM
So did Oklahoma St.

03-16-2001, 07:53 AM
Joe - I agree. I think it is now safe to say that emotion is an asset but not a main drive. The Hank Gathers/Loyola Maramount thing was a fluke. OK State should have gone NIT.

Of course, after the punking last night, so should In, Wis, and Oh. St.

Just my luck...ISU loses and the sounds of the Big 10 will come crash'n in !

QSU too, Crap.....MU just about crapped out too !

03-16-2001, 08:49 AM
ISU, ISU, ISU...bastards...that was just poor coaching by Eustachy...why din't he call time out sometime during that run?...it might have settled things down...

How unlucky was that roll that Tinsley got at the buzzer?...problem is it should have never had to come down to the last shot...

Take your best shot you Big 10 fans, we deserve it...

Thank God MU won, and after Texas, Oklahoma and KU win...we can brag again...:D

More upsets in the works. Texas is getting beat by 11th seed Temple, 10th seed Butler is smokin' Wake Forest and 12th seed Gonzaga is beating Virginia.

03-16-2001, 01:15 PM
It is fantastic. I just hope the Jayhawks survive this. It is obviously very contagious.

03-16-2001, 01:17 PM
There seems to be a common thread in the upsets and that is very good guard play.

03-16-2001, 01:27 PM
It does seem that's the case. But, that's what makes ISU's loss so odd. Tinsley and Horton are arguably one of the better guard tandems around.
Here in the heart of Cyclone country, we've had to put a few of our more zealous 'Clones supporters on suicide watch.

03-16-2001, 01:33 PM
I understand and I would not in my wildest thought Iowa State would freeze. I have seen the samething in the Jayhawks. They are favored and when things start to go bad they choke. IState looked like they went into slow motion, stood around, didn't box out, couldn't rebound, they were just watching the game. And I do think they have a great coach but I think he was caught off guard and he too became a spectator.

03-16-2001, 01:34 PM
Way to go Texas!
I had them going to the Elite 8. What was I thinking?

03-16-2001, 01:39 PM
4 games today, and three upsets...Gonzaga beat Virginia,
Temple beat Texas and Butler beat Wake...I love upsets...but not against Big XII teams...chokers...

03-16-2001, 01:39 PM
Too bad 'bout the 'Clones. Tins almost had it there. That's the way it goes sometimes.

Big8+4: 1 fer 4
zee petite 11: 2 fer 5

Shoulda known better than to include Tay-has.
Who'da thunkit?!? Mizzou stands alone in the Big8+4 W column...

03-16-2001, 01:44 PM
hey....Makes ya wonder who or where the dominate division are ? I remember a thread like this.....Maybe the rest of the 12 can make it better!

03-16-2001, 01:45 PM
Wake and Virginia are down so we have the Big 10, 12, and ACC, eight teams in all going down in flames. Maryland, Iowa, and Missouri just barely won!!!

03-16-2001, 01:50 PM
Red, Tinsley had some bad luck on the roll but it should never have come down to that...Eustachy Grbacked up by not calling a TO during Hampton's run...I think if he calls time out when it got down to like a 5 point lead it would have settled things down...but still, no way it should have been that close...

03-16-2001, 01:54 PM
Not calling TOs to stop runs seems to be a theme in the 8+4.
My bracket has just been torn to shreds. grrrrrrrrrrr

CBS stands a chance at keepin thier $10 million,

MU/Duke? Bring it!

I'm worried for KU

With all these higher seeds having to collect thier arses after the games . . this is a whole different tourney.

It may actually be easier for the #1s to advance . . . with all the 3s,4s,5s losing to 12s,13s,14s

03-16-2001, 02:07 PM
Yesterday my best thought bracket was 6 of 10, my joker bracket was 8-10 and my best hunch, my gut instinct, what deep down I believed bracket was 4 of 10. I am alread down three out four today. What amazes me is how many got them all correct yesterday. How could they. Next year my cat is going to pick.

03-16-2001, 03:45 PM
Don't look now, but the Sycamores of Indiana St. are up on OU.

Could it be the Big 12 & ACC both take it on the chin today?

03-16-2001, 03:55 PM
Tenn lost which keeps my losing streak alive.

Big 12 is having a big choke.

Bye bye okies.

03-16-2001, 04:16 PM
Wow. OU goes down too.

It is a good old fashion Choke Fest. Go KU. Go MU.

03-16-2001, 04:16 PM
Iowa State..................gone
Oklahoma State..............gone

and NOW, Oklahoma..............HISTORY!!!

Now left: Kansas & Mizzou

The sweet 16 isn't looking too good for the lil' 12!! ;)

This sorry a$$ team beat KU?

03-16-2001, 04:19 PM
Oklahoma is Grbacked...chokers...another upset...My brackets are grbacked...only hope I have in the old office pool is that everyone else was picking the "sure" things too...

it would be fitting if only KU and MU made it past the first round...only two teams I really care about...go KU...

Is Indiana State in the Big 10?

who posted that Big 10 swoon thread...jinxed us...;)

Indiana St. is in the Missouri Valley(along with Creighton, SMS,etc.).

Unfortunately, the Big 10 has struggled a bit, but with Illinois already winning, and the MIGHTY SPARTANS, your defending National Champions, are on tonight vs. Alabama St(Are they in the Big 12 ;) ).

03-16-2001, 04:31 PM
Oh woe is me for having posted the swoon series. Almost did one on the ACC but felt the Gods were indeed angry. Forgive me. Let KU win.

03-16-2001, 08:33 PM
The curse has ended. I will never use the s---- word again.

03-16-2001, 08:43 PM
Way to go KU......Hope we can win somemore to help out the Big 12 record. Gosh darn Pac 10 is Hot!

I happen to have been lucky enough to have been at the game last night between MU and Georgia. No matter what the spin doctors may tell you, they were having visions of Oklahoma in the closing seconds.

But it was a good game to be at. All the Duke fans are busy planning their trip to the next locale for the 2nd round. What would really be funny is to see Mizzou pull off the upset.

that's some of the best ball I've seen Kansas play . . . especialy this season.

I hope they have some more of that left
