I currently own a 05 Mustang GT that I do like and have put quite a bit of money into but Iíve been approached by the owner of this 70 mach 1 and asked if I would be interested in trading straight up. Iím really torn. Which would YOU rather drive?

trying to post pics....

What's the value of the 70?

I'd rather drive an older vehicle simply because they're made better and I have the ability to work on them.

However a newer vehicle is more efficient and more valuable currently.

If you're talking about a daily driver, I wouldn't advise trading the for a nostalgic ride. You're only going to diminish the value of it. But if this is a car you want to show and keep long-term then you should go for it.

I'm guessing you're a younger guy driving a flashy car to pull chicks and feed your ego. There's nothing wrong with that. We've all been there.

If it was me and the values were comparable I'd trade for the older car. But I'm older and have the option to baby it. If you plan to drive it every day you're only going to tear it up and make everybody sick.

The guy has got to have more than 60-70 into the 70, I have about 50-55 into my 05 so thats a wash.

It would not be a DD just for nice days and on the weekends.

Im 28 and got a wife so no need for the chicks.

Thanks for the response

now if I can only get it to show the pics...

I'd go with the Mach One, assuming the suspension and brakes have been updated..what size motor?

I'd take the older one in a heartbeat if the values are similar. You can find another '05 again, there aren't that many Mach 1s out there.

Now that I know the rest of the story, my advice is to trade. They're both incredibly nice looking rides but the 70 is likely to appreciate in value while the 05 will continue to depreciate. You're bending the guy over, in a sense. Congratulations.

Do it now. Call the guy and wake him up. Don't wait until Sunday. The '70 is appreciating in value and the '05 is depreciating rapidly.

See what kind of paper work he has. All numbers matching ? All original ? The most important thing to get is a paper trail.

If he were looking to impress chicks, the 70 would impress this one more than the 05.

He mentioned earlier that he's married. Impressing chicks is just dangerous at this stage in his life. He's better off impressing guys who are driving '05 Stangs.

Yes, I'm able to read. That's why I said if he were. IF. I know he's not.

I'd say this basically sums it up.

Too bad it's not a Boss 429. That would be a real rip off for ya.

Remember that Mach 1 will be a lot of fun. If you tire of it all you have to do is find a collector who wants that year, make, and model and you can get pretty greedy on your asking price.

If you did the '05 once, you can do it again.

Might try to contact the resident Mopar man (Semi Ed or something like that) :)

From reading his past posts on the board he really seems to have a passion and much knowledge of the old muscle cars and classics.

If you actually have to rely on your vehicle to get you from point A to point B, I'd stick with what you have. They both resemble pontoon boats, so it's really a toss up.

If this is only a Mach 1 i think you can get a Mach 3 or higher at wal mart now.

Do it. The Mach 1 will continue to appreciate as they get more scarce.
