By that I mean what do you hope to see accomplished? I still expect to see the team struggle a lot but by the end of the year I expect to see signs of improvemnt that the club that is headed in the right direction. I myself am willing to be patient to see the team put out a better product in the long term. Go Royals!

I expect to not lose 100 games, and I hope we can win at least 70.

Finishing out of the cellar would sadly be a dream season for us.

I would like to see a 20 game winner in our rotation. I don't know if that will happen but it would be a nice sign of the club going in the right direction.

Are the Royals really thinking Gil Meche is the savior? The dude is a below average MLB pitcher and the Royals threw 55 million his way. Why is Reggie Sanders still on the team and Billy Butler not in Kansas City? Same old Royals with more holes than the Titanic.

This year I think the Royals are going to be like the 2002 Chiefs. I think they will be exciting to watch but also frustrate the hell out of you. I will say that the Royals will not lose 100 games again this year, heck last year they had 31 blown saves!

No, the old Royals would have rushed Butler up. These Royals are patient with their young players, as they should be. They've tried to trade Sanders, but haven't found a taker yet. No, Meche isn't a savior....nobody believes he is. But he is an improvement for this staff, and I'll take that at this point.

Butler isn't in KC because his OF skills are nowhere near ready. I doubt he stays down there all year though.

Meche isn't the savior. We needed someone to be at the top. You can't get better without taking a risk. Meche has great stuff when he puts it together.

In three years we are contending again.

My expectations are to lose less than 90. I'd like to see an improved bullpen, more depth in the rotation, and solid developmental year for the arms in the minors (Hochevar, Lumsden, Buckner, Cota, etc.). I hope Shealy reaches his potential, and DeJesus stays healthy. I hope we're able to flip Sanders, Brown, Grudz and possibly Dotel at the deadline for more young talent. I'd love to see Bianchi stay healthy and show the ability to play SS.

Mr. Laz
04-02-2007, 11:38 AM
i think the Royals are still gonna really struggle with their bullpen.

sweeney will get hurt .... but i bet Butler gets the call up. They will have better bats this year.

RP_McMurphy

My point is that his bat is MLB ready and the rest can be brought along. With the Royals weak pitching the team needs runs and lots of them.

Your right his bat is most definately ready. His glove isn't. It is much easier for him to get the game speed practice down there than in the glare of the major league lights. Down there if you make a Manny type mistake your team see's it but it doesn't end up on the blooper reel for SC all year.

I also think that currently he might lose us more games than his bat could win. Most of the reports coming out are that his instincts are terrible atm and that he has had a few problems picking the ball up off the bat. As much as I would love his bat right now, I don't want to watch him get burnt night after night. He will be much more ready at mid-season or possibly as an august call-up.

Could be. I would hate to see him come up for DH though. If they are gonna call him up to DH in the middle they might as well just do that now. I would rather him stay down and learn to play the OF better and get called up when he's ready. I think the only way he gets called up to DH is if the Royals are in First or within 5 games of First. If we call him up and we are in last place to DH its a dumb move. Better to get him fully ready for the years ahead.

What I'd like to see the Royals accomplish this year is to develop a core starting rotation with little to no injuries. Of course they don't have much say in how many of them get hurt. However, each year they keep using more and more pitchers because they are either ineffective or always hurt. It would be nice to see a five man rotation stick for once rather than being forced to parade through the minors in search of someone to make a spot start.

I expect idiots to yell "DONUTS" every time the Royals get 12 hits.

I expect Mike Sweeney to have back trouble before Mother's Day.

I expect Denny Matthews to say "Indubitably" at least once in a broadcast.

I expect a rainout or two.

I expect some kid to puke on Sluggrrrr at some point.

I expect the Watson's Girl to show us some hootage.

I expect Aw-Hell B-Error-A to boot a few in Omaha-ha-ha

I expect Alex Gordon will get laid a lot.

I expect Dayton Moore to kick a few asses.

I expect around 90 losses, but somehow the year won't seem as painful as the last couple.

I agree with everything you said... just wandering about DHing him. I mean why not? Make him shag fly balls for 3 hours a day and use his bat in the line up. Just a thought.

I expect less losses, less blown saves, more runs but more heartache in the process. I hope we're within sniffing distance of .500. I really hope we can win today and get off to the right start although I certainly don't expect it again DM and the Sox.

If we could win the season series vs. the Cards that would make me happy.

We could try it that way but honestly he would be denied game situations where there is pressure. Down there they coaches don't have to worry as much about who they are playing down the road and can spend extra time on him. He is much better off in the minors, unless we plan on just keeping him a DH. I understand though. It is hard to keep him down there when his bat is soooo good.

Showed today that we have the potential to win some games. They beat one of the best pitchers in the American League good and honest. Meche shut down a pretty good lineup. Peralta held up at the end. It's a long season, but you can see a better baseball team there.

The over-under for Meche is 11 wins this season. I'd definitely take the over after what he showed today. I was sitting on the first base side lower level and I rarely saw him get a pitch up in the strike zone. Peralta looked good, too. Struck out 4 in 1-2/3 innings.

I wish I could go to the Dice-K/Greinke matchup. That would be a good one to see, but it's a day game and I can't miss another day of work this week.
