What are everyones favorite professional teams for the big four, Football, Baseball, Basketball and Hockey.

Football: Chiefs

Baseball: Giants

Basketball: Lakers

Hockey: Sharks

Lakers are my best chance of having something to chear about this year although I believe that the Sharks have an outside chance.

Might be kind of fun to add the teams that you despise the most as well

Football: Raiders, Donx, Cowgirls

Baseball: Dodgers, Yankees

Basketball: Jazz

Hockey: Kings, Stars

I'll play along:

Kings (still have an old KC Kings pin at home).

Used to be the Bruins, but now I don't care. Won't watch after the whole "skate in the crease thing" during the finals a few years back. What a crock of sh!t. If you have a rule in force during the season, then enforce it during the playoff you ignorant f*cks. Just because it's late, you're tired, like Brett Hull 'cse his daddy played or whatever, is no excuse. I mean ...

Sorry about that. I'm still a bit bitter. And I hate Buffalo. I stayed up all night watching that thing, and ...

Okay, I'll stop now. For real.

~~Likes the big three ... the other he ignores.

I'm in,

Royals (good learning to see who will be future stars for the Sox, Yankees, Dodgers, and Braves.)

Spurs (great players that are great people) Never thought I would dislike a player as much as Shaq when he left Orlando high and dry, and then bad mouthed a classy David Robinson, until "I'm better than the game and my team" Kobe came along. Nothing makes my day more to see Kobe "brick" another game winning shot!

Don't follow hockey close but like Dallas.

College Football and Basketball - any previous Big 8 team. Root for MU when they have a team that can contend.

03-20-2001, 12:30 PM

(couldn't care less about hockey)

Yankmees (baseball needs a salary cap!)

I could spend all day arguing about the problems with baseball....(yankmee outfield making as much as Royals starting 9).. but I digress

03-20-2001, 12:31 PM

Shaq is still the MVP of the NBA. He is also the frequently fouled with no calls as well. My $$$$ are still on the Lakers to take it all. The twin towers still provide the most problems for this team though. I sure am hoping that they don't have to take out the Trailblazers and the Spurs in the playoffs. I think as far as players are concerned in BB Dikembe Mutombo is the class of the league as far as being a good person.

Last night was a disgrace

03-20-2001, 12:32 PM
baseball - Royals
football - Chiefs
Professional basketball and hockey bore the crap out of me.

Least favorites;
baseball - Yankees
football - Raiders
Professional basketball and hockey bore the crap out of me.

03-20-2001, 12:38 PM

I agree with you on the Yankmees.:D I hate it when a team can just buy a chumpionship like that, it really ruins the game. I would like to see the A s do well this year in the American league as they have a low salary and alot of talent. Watch out for those guys this year

03-20-2001, 12:53 PM
Mark: I thought you'd follow the NHL NJ Devils as they were the franchise that was once the Kansas City Scouts.

The Scouts, btw, never won a playoff game, ever.

Mark M
03-20-2001, 12:59 PM
LOL!! The Scouts were horrible. Of course, I'd still probably go see them (I go to a few Blades games every year. Fun to watch guys playing their a$$es off trying to make the big time).

Actually, I rooted for the Devils when they won their first Cup several years ago, but never became a huge fan. Don't know why not. And I don't know why I used to like the Bruins. Just did as a kid and it kinda stuck.

~~Has no good answers to his hockey affiliations.

03-20-2001, 01:01 PM
Baseball - Royals (of course)
Football - Chiefs (of course)
Basketball - followed the Kings most of my life and used to work the opposing teams bench as the equipment mgr. employed by the Kings (cool job), but followed the Bulls most of the 90's. Now could give a S H I T
Hockey - Red Wings

Least Fav's
Baseball - Yanks
Football - Raiders
Basketball - Lakers/Knicks
Hockey - Blues

03-20-2001, 01:03 PM
NFL - Chiefs [duh]
NCAA BB - Jayhawks [no one else even close]
NCAA FB - whichever Big 8 team looks like it has the best chance to kick the crap out of those Florida teams.
MLB - Royals [seeing Mr. Brett assured I would remain a fan for life]
NBA - Utah Jazz, though if it weren't for Rasheed Wallace, I'd like Pippen and the T'Blazers.
NHL - Blues, more by osmosis than anything
MSL - Wiz, gotta love Meola
EPL - Manchester U.
Tennis - Anna, . . Anna, . . Anna, . . Anna.

03-20-2001, 01:05 PM
I went to a few Scouts games as a kid. At that age, however, I was more interested in scoring some Cotton Candy than the game.

03-20-2001, 01:12 PM

03-20-2001, 01:16 PM
Now I understand why nobody will ever talk to me about the Lakers

03-20-2001, 01:16 PM

Big Daddy,

Agree that the West will come down to the Spurs and Lakers. Great match up!!!

Shaq is the most dominant player in the NBA. For Kobe to think he should be the first option is a joke, and will cost the Lakers in the playoffs.

Respect Shaq as a player, but still angry at how he called out David Robinson. Especially since David hasn't had a mean word against any player. Even Karl Malone after he elbowed David in the head and damn near killed him.

If Portland doesn't turn it around they may not make the playoffs. Minn Timberwolves are the team that scares me. Always play the Spurs tough.

See ya in the Western Finals

03-20-2001, 01:41 PM

Football: Chiefs
Baseball: Was once a dedicated Royals fan, but now I am convinced that MLB sucks. (no salary cap)
Basketball: no basketball
Hockey: I have no favorite NHL team, but I have season tickets for the Mississippi Seawolves of the ECHL. They did great early in the season, but will probably miss the playoffs due to a late season nose dive. (sounds familiar huh?)

Football: Raiders, Donks
Baseball: Atlanta (they're on every TV channel in the country every time they play)
Hockey: Louisiana Icegators, the Oakland Raiders of the ECHL.
Basketball: Everybody

I actually have an old Scouts promo puck somewhere at my folks house. I was very young and don't even remember going to the game.

It seems as though I forgot to name the teams I hate, ssoooooooo:

Football: Chokeland, Donkeys and the Rams (it's a menage-a-trois of hate going on there).
Baseball: Does anyone like the Yankees? I know I don't. Screw them ... and the St. Louis Cardinals, too.
Basketball: Knicks, followed closely by the Celtics, although Bill Russell is the best player ever ... period. 11 rings says it all.
NCAA Football: Notre Dame. I'm part Irish and a supposed Catholic ... but just can't get myself to like them. My great-grandmother would be so ashamed.
Hockey: Dallas Stars. What in the hell is Texas doing with a f*cking hockey team anyway? There shouldn't be one south of the Mason/Dixon line, IMO. No city that only sees ice when it comes out of a freezer should have a team. What in the hell is the NHL thinking with the Atlanta Thrashers. I mean ...

Ooops. Sorry about the NHL rant Part II. My bad.

I'll substitute boxing instead...
Roy Jones Jr...

The Bad :

Bronco pukes, Whiners, Chiefs

Celtics, Trailblazers

Red Sox, Dodgers

Lennox Lewis

and the Ugly:

Ed McCaffery, Emmitt, Randy Moss, Jeff Fisher, Bill Walsh, Anything to do with BYU

Rick Pitino, Isiah Thomas, Scottie Pippen, Jason williams

Pedro, Sammy Sosa, Sheffield, Griffey

George Foreman, Don King

03-20-2001, 03:01 PM
NBA-(don't laugh)Pistons
MLB-Cards. SCREW YOU MARK M!(in my best Cartman impersonation).
NHL-Red Wings
NFL-Donks, Dolphins, plowboys
NBA-Still hate MJ & da Bulls(worn out many a pictures of him on my old dart board).
MLB-Cubs & Braves; Cubs because they $uck, Braves because they have THE most fair-weathered fans.
NHL-Avalanche, because of scumbags like Roy, Forsburg & Claude Lemeieux

Archie F. Swin
03-20-2001, 03:36 PM
Chiefs, Jaguars (Chiefs when they go head to head)

Royals (x2 when they beat the Strangers and White Sux)

Kings, Mavericks (love to see former doormats come around)

Stars (I could live without seeing another hockey game)

ATM . . . Rock Chalk, BABY!

Big Daddy - Cool Post

I don't follow the NBA anymore, but I will give it a shot

Most Loved
Football - Chiefs
Baseball - Mets
Basketball - Celtics (and MJ)
Hockey - Red Wings (WHo have been on a hellacious tear until Morph's expansion girls knocked them down again the other night)

Hated Teams
Football - faiders
Baseball - Ted Turncoats Braves
Basketball - Lakers (sorry, its a requirement if you like the Celtics)
Hockey - Colorado GravelAunts (probably the single best rivalry in pro sports today Det/Col)

03-20-2001, 06:46 PM
Baseball? I'm a bandwagon Baseball team. I follow my local Astros sometimes. Since I was able to attend Cards & Royals games growing up, I followed them closely but it's never been the same for me since the strike.
Basketball - I'm bandwagon. Whichever team has Hawkeye alumn employed. Was the Bulls w/ BJ Armstrong now Rockets with Matt Bullard. I much prefer college hoops.
Hockey - don't really follow it but do go to our local minor league games every once in a while.

Raiduhs, Donx, 'girls, 'skins, patsies
Lakers, Knicks
Yankees, Braves
Hockey - don't care.

Boxing - don't follow anything having anything to do with Don King.
Wrestling - college only. Go Hawks!
Womens Tennis and Womens Beach V-ball are very entertaining to me depending on the scenery.... :)

03-20-2001, 06:46 PM

Football: Chiefs

Baseball: Royals, White Sox (only Chicago team I like). Cardinals used to be second, but are fading fast because of my growing hatred of St. Louis in general - if we end up doing this g#ddamn Green trade they'll fall off completely. I'm kind of starting to like the Mets simply because I hate the Braves (and like Ventura).

Basketball and Hockey: Don't care.

Most hated:

Football: Denver (DUH), St. Louis, Dallas. Intensely dislike but respect Oakland and Seattle. Feel sorry for San Diego, but get annoyed when they annually beat us on the road. Dislike the Ravens because of Elvis. Dislike the Bears because I live in Chicago and get them jammed down my throat. Don't give a sh!t about anyone else.

Baseball: Braves (the BNC is a huge Atlanta fan and drives me INSANE constantly whining about them) and the Yankees (enough of these overpaid f#ckers already). Cleveland and Oakland suck. If the Cubs weren't so pathetic, I'd hate them, too.

Basketball and Hockey: Still don't care.

03-20-2001, 07:29 PM
LOL at Fraz's response.

Favourite teams
Mets - I've a fan of defense in baseball, love the Mets infield (Ordonez especially).
Rockets - don't really care about NBA unless there's nothing else on.
Can't stand hockey.

Hated teams
Football - Denver (esp. Romo), Oakland, Ravens (esp. Lewis and Sharpe), Patriots, Jets, Giants. Never liked the 9ers but they're so bad now, why bother.
Baseball - Braves
NBA - Blazers - After Pippen left Houston for Portland I went to his first game back at the Summit with a sign Pippen Is Portland's Pouting Egomaniac Now. A$$hole.

03-20-2001, 07:59 PM
Cormac - are you from 'round Houston?

03-20-2001, 08:06 PM
The good side of the coin...

NFL- Chiefs, Ravens with Chiefs as first love.
MLB- Cards, Royals, Orioles in no particular order.
NBA- Nobody left to love with MJ, Bird and Magic gone. Plenty to hate, though.
NHL- I've heard of that
NCAA BB- Maryland

On the flip side of the coin...

NFL- Raiders, Donx, Cowboys, Skins
MLB- Yankees with Braves a distant 2nd. I hate the Yankees more than the Raiders, if that gives you some idea of my distaste.
NBA- Most of them, with Lakers, Knicks and 76'ers leading the pack. How did they manage to screw up what was a great league this badly?
NCAA BB- %*!!%^$#!!! Duke and Carolina...except during the tournament.

03-20-2001, 08:06 PM
From the way he spelled "favourite," I'd guess that Cormac's from around London.

03-21-2001, 07:22 AM

No, but my sister lives in Webster, so I've been down there several times. I like it there. I'm in Lexington, KY........but I'll be moving to Madison, WI this fall.

I'm from Ireland originally......still have spelling difficulties :D

03-21-2001, 07:45 AM
Football-Chiefs (obviously)
Hockey-Don't care

Most Despised
Football-TRaiders, DonkeyBoys, 9ers, Cowpies.
Baseball-Yankees, Braves, Mets
Basketball-Jazz, TrailerBlazers

Due to the hours I work, I don't get to follow the other sports the way I once did.
The strike didn't turn me off to baseball. The way the game is played now did. Seems like teams are now just standing around waiting for the long ball. Used to see more aggressive base running years ago. The game was more exciting to watch when players would try to turn singles into doubles, doubles into triples. The stolen base almost seems like a lost art.
NCAA BB is much better than the NBA. Pro players are entirely to selfish.

03-21-2001, 10:43 AM
football: chiefs
baseball: cardinals
nba: bletch!
hockey: blues

football: raiders/donks
baseball: cubs
nba: bletch!
hockey: avs

03-21-2001, 10:57 AM

I used to live in League City but now I'm on the West side. Drop me a line when you're in town next and we can try to hook up. I have season tix to the Texans if you're ever around when they're playing....

03-21-2001, 11:49 AM

Good to see another Lakers fan on this BB. I was beginning to feel like the lone ranger. It should come down to the Lakers or the Spurs this year. The Spurs are playing alot better that the Lakers right now. I think they are playing better now than when they won the championship. Fortunately the playoffs are still down the road. Plenty of time to start building some momentum. Sure hope Kobes ankles are ready by then.

Mark M
03-21-2001, 11:58 AM
A Cards fan, eh ... ? So I guess you have a voodoo doll of Orta sitting around somewhere? ;)

~~Remembers 1985 clearly ... especially the Game 7 a$$ whoopin'.

03-21-2001, 01:40 PM
Big Daddy,
From what little I get to see of the Lakers these days, I don't believe that they can repeat.
If, and when Kobe, realizes that he will never be the next Michael, and learns that winning championships takes a team effort, then they'll have a chance.
But I doubt that he'll learn it at all, if he hasn't learned it yet.

03-21-2001, 02:46 PM

I don't see anybody but San Antonio and Portland that have the talent to do it. Don't underestimate this team under this coach. You are right though, Kobe has to come back to earth. He is still very young though. I just hope the lights go on sooner rather than later.

03-21-2001, 02:59 PM
They also have the ability to blow themselves up but that is why they brought in Phil. Frankly I am more concerned about the lack of defence than Kobe. Fischer sure was a sight for sore eyes.

<IMG SRC="http://www.nba.com/playerfile/images/derek_fisher.jpg";

03-21-2001, 03:03 PM

That's a great offer! Thanks a million. I'm not sure that I'll be visiting there anytime soon (going to be kind of in flux heading up 'nort' this fall, and my sister is getting married in Ireland at Christmas, so I'll see her then). But you can bet I'll be in touch the next time I head down there. Orla used to live in League City too (about 3 years ago). It's a good spot. I love Kemah.

Thanks again.

03-21-2001, 03:12 PM
Mark M,

Nah, I was only 12 at the time. If that call hadn't been blown(you certainly can't blame it on Orta), the Cards still may not have won, although you have to admit, their chances would have been pretty darn good.

In case you didn't notice, I didn't mention the Royals as a team I hate; truth is, they're the only junior circuit team I pay any attention to. I'd like to see them play well again.
