We passed on DT's and Corners.......for Turk McBride.....

DE, this year.

If he can hit the weight room, and add 20 lbs.....he could become a good Cover 2 DT. He's quick, active, agressive....and versatile.

It's not a pick for THIS year....but might, in retrospect, be a good pick.

Of course, it's not the pick I would have made. But I'm not Herm.

He's a DT...Warren Sapp was a pretty good DT....Chester McGlockton wasn't too shabby...and you wouldn't mistake either of them for the brightest bulbs in the gallery, either.

It merits mention again -- San Diego is having a terrible draft. Big-time reach in the 1st, then trading nearly an entire draft for another slight reach.

Dave Lane
04-28-2007, 07:52 PM
Weaknesses:
'Tweener who is undersized in the middle and not fast enough for the outside...Is still raw and does not have a lot of starting experience...Has trouble disengaging from blocks...Is not a great natural pass rusher or sack artist...Is not stout at the point and will get pushed back...Lacks elite timed speed and a burst...Durability?

McBride is a motor guy too. He seems like the type of player Herm wants. I bet he weighs 290 by training camp. I figure the reason he only weighs 277 right now is because he played all over the Tennessee line.

That makes him a DT in our scheme. People need to get this 340lb DT image out of their heads, cover 2 is about smaller DT's that can move and petetrate, that's why even Tampa in it's hey day wasn't good against the run up the middle.

He is big yes, he does plug the run yes, but I would not say that he CAN'T penetrate...the mad did have 7 sacks last season and even missed some time. Good old Edwards didn't look too quick or at all undersized.

Yeah, but is RB a need? I mean, I know the concerns about LJ's durability after a 400+ carries in a season, along with Bennett's injury concerns, and Holmes issues, but I think the Chiefs got bigger problems than the RB spot.

Offensive Line or the Secondary is probably what I'd like for the Chiefs to target.

My magazines gush about Tank's quickness.

Magazine 1

"Sheds blocks quickly"

"Is good at accelerating to full speed"

"Bursts off the snap"

"Has a variety of quick moves"

"Moves quickly at the snap"

"Can diagnose plays quickly"

Magazine 2

"First-step quickness"

"Quick to penetrate"

"Can shed man and burst to the ball"

"Relies too much on his quickness"

"Good athlete with sudden first-step quickness"

"Quick on pass rush"

"Has speed and quickness to get around corner"

Quick quick quick quick quick quick quick. The magazines don't lie.

He's quick when he assaults cops too.......

One player Kuharich has definitely researched is Tyler. The Chiefs are in desperate need of defensive tackles, and Tyler has been labeled as one of the best in the draft.

The problem is that Tyler was suspended for part of North Carolina State’s game against Boston College for spitting on an official one week earlier. Tyler claimed it was an accident, but it certainly didn’t help his cause considering he was charged with misdemeanor assault of a Raleigh police officer the previous summer.

“Off the field, he’s had a couple of infractions that we’ve investigated,” Kuharich said. “We brought him in here and talked about it, and we’ll sit down and talk about it (as a staff), too.”

Still, even if players haven’t encountered trouble in college, there’s no guarantee they’ll behave like saints in the NFL.
