We should've paid Sampson 850,001.

This is their LAST hurrah with the Chiefs....if they don't make it count, they'll be hitting the pavement or the Arena League next year. :cuss:

I think they were RFA's so those are the low tenders.....maybe we'll be able to cut them.

I would think so, since they both suck complete ass. Carl wouldn't pay any more.

We need both for depth.

Sampson is no starter, but he served as a decent backup when he was healthy.

If I had my way, I'd use Samie as a half-way decent #4, so defenses won't be keying in on him so bad. I think Webb's going to be our #3, and hopefully we're going to draft our other starter.

Both good signings in their own way, both done for the right price.

I'm still one of the few who keeps hoping Parker will get his ass in gear and turn into a legitimate receiver for us. My patience is waning, however.

Well, advantage is that we can cut them for nothing as there doesn't sound like there is a bonus involved.

I think he will when he becomes a #4, and defenses stop caring about him. CBs tend to key in on the #1 and the #2, and the slot receiver, leaving little time for them to look at our reserves.

I think Parker could benefit from that neglect. He's an okay route runner, he doesn't have great hands but if he isn't forced to make difficult catches on tough defenses, he could be an important role player.

Emphasis on "could." Nothing is guaranteed with this guy.

I think MOST of us felt that way, last year; but "we" are down to a 10% or less group....these days.

It's now or never, fellas; shit, or git off the pot! Your insurance, or financial consulting career awaits. :shake:

I agree and its do or die. I think his "celebrations" take to much concentration so he drops a lot planning ahead.

Plus I like having Parker around as a reserve. For a WR, he treasures run blocking and I like his gameday enthusiasm.

Like I said. #4 receiver and I'm happy. But he's not going to make it happen as a starter.

He'd have been perfect for the Raiders back when they were signing track stars and trying to turn them into football players.

The weird thing is that he seems to be able to make the tough catches, but drops a bunch of the easy ones.

I thought he really had turned the corner after his injury, but he followed it up with a horrendous season. I have given up on the guy. I'd like to be wrong, but eh, I doubt it highly.

Yeah. His complete lack of consistency is what breaks him. There is nothing guaranteed with Parker.

I have a degree of faith in him, but he's not a world beater, and his value to this team is as a reserve. Maybe a #3, definitely a #4.

And guess what? His salary reflects that. So, it's a good signing.

I hate Parker. He's Snoop Minnis with slightly more body mass - a showboating punk with little to showboat about. At least he knows the offense. Allegedly.

As for Sampson - who cares?

I'll tell you who cares, the right tackle's going to care.

Because we've lost Will Shields, we're going to lose Chris Terry and defenses are going to rush the hell out of our right side. We need to have a decent backup to whatever sacrificial figure we place at RT.

I just heard that Sampson's already out for the year. Apparently, he hurt himself while signing his name on the contract.

No kidding.

Unless we address it in the draft, the Chris Terry thing's going to hurt us more than Will Shields did.

#4 WR's have to play special teams.....something Parker doesn't do.

04-27-2007, 11:03 PM
Parker - I'm with those who are ok with keeping him as a 3 or 4, the guy does love to block & thats a true rarity among WR's. He'll never be great...but how many are???

Crampson - The diff between him & Parker IMO is that he COULD be great, but simply doesnt want to be. I watched him bully & manhandle a lot of guys last year, but as he himself said, football is not his #1 passion. I honestly cant remember a guy on ANY team that let a boo-boo derail his starter status as often, the great ones would rather eat shit than let some of the "injuries" he had steal their spotlight.

"Doesn't do" or "hasn't done yet"?

He was a starter before, and you don't put your starting WRs on special teams.

Mecca

He never played special teams in college either........I remember that being a huge reason he was never active as a rookie because if he wasn't playing WR on the field he brought nothing else as a backup.

Rookie seasons... come on now.

He was a starting receiver in college.

I think it's possible we see him on special teams. Maybe not, but maybe so.

How about we you know......just get rid of his worthless ass.

Steve Breaston is projected as a 6th rounder, he can do kicks and punts and play special teams.......draft him in the 6th wave by to Mr. Parker.

Honestly Parker is going to be fighting for his life just to stay on the team.

What's he good for? Ideally, speedy deep threat that can stretch the field. Which is exactly what Herm thinks he's going to get from Hannon and maybe Webb.

So yeah, we add some depth at WR this draft and maybe a starter, it's possible we say goodbye to Samie.

I still assert he has value if we don't.
