I mean...I'm happy with the pick, but Jarrett looked like absolute freak on the film I saw.

Eh, I'm a USC guy but Bowe is probably more naturally gifted for the pro game. He runs faster, and is thicker.

Bowe should be a great fit for our offense as he is will be an asset in the running game and can also stretch the field, allowing Gonzo to get some room in the middle.

I honestly know nothing about him, b ut everyone has him rated higher

I'm just thankful we took a WR and not Staley

He's a great downfield blocker.

That's why Herm picked him lol.

Meachem appealed to me because of his speed, but I'll trust the analysts who had Bowe ranked higher.

Bowe is a good pick.

I would have been fine with any of the 3 WRs. Bowe sounds good. Plus, you gotta figure he'll know some things about Russell.

I have seen Bowe play in person. He will be an outstanding WR for the Chiefs. He catches and blocks real well. He is built like brick house. Tough as nails.

Yes we did but Bowe doesn't suck.

Crappy thing about this is we're also watching highlights of the Raiders #1 overall pick.

I like Bowe better. Larger frame. I think he's got better hands.

We already have Rod Gardner.

with herm i don't see us needing a big speedster since we don't have nor plan on having a huge vertical attack.

big physical WR, good at yards after the catch, good blocking, good size should be easy to keep him healthy, I like the pick.

I'm not too mad, though.

We'll make up for it in next year's draft, because we'll be picking in the top 10.

Bowe has good stature, good hands ,and great flexability as well - much like Jarrett.

I really like this pick. :)

Bowe saved Russell's big behind lots of times.

I wanted Meachem because Bowe looks like a player who will be a slow possession receiver in a few years. But he seems to have good moves, which all good receivers need.

Check the vid out, the guy can catch, block, and deliver hits.

The type of O that Herm is building, if we get guys like him and LJ going, it's going to be a tough as nails offense that no defense will enjoy tackling because we're gonna deliver some hits...

I liked either Jarrett or Meachum better. One thing I'm not impressed with is we got a WR that tends to have key drops at important times - he should fit right in.

True, however as I understand it he's still developing as he got a bit of a late start on football, so more upside?

Bowe's catching problem was eye sight that has been corrected. Also anybody seen his video where he levels Arkansas' MLB.

They do look a lot alike. Strength and size with enough speed to be dangerous.

DaWolf
04-28-2007, 04:24 PM
The key here is does he FIT into what we are doing, not if he is better than the other two guys who were there. If this guy fits into what we want to do offensively, he is the best fit. I don't think based on what I've seen or read that anyone at receiver here at 23 was head and shoulders above the others.

No hopefully he'll be FAR better than Samie Parker. He's certainly far bigger and tougher, and likes going into traffic apparently. I like that...

He got lasik before last season and it helped but didn't fix it. I think it may be more concentration and from what I have read it seems correctable.

Dwayne Bowe, WR, LSU - His mouth gets in the way, and he has a high opinion of himself, but Bowe is still a puppy. He's only played the game for five years. Should he land in the hands of a creative offensive coordinator, he'll be extremely dangerous.

With the twenty-third pick of the 2007 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs selected wide receiver Dwayne Bowe. With wide receiver Robert Meachem and offensive tackle Joe Staley each still on the board, it was a surprise that they did not select one of them instead.

Bowe really improved himself in his final year at LSU, partially due to having a solid quarterback in JaMarcus Russell throwing to him. In fact, Bowe was Russell's primary target this past season. Compared to the other "Dwayne" (Dwayne Jarrett), Bowe has a little better speed for a receiver. He has shown power in the past, which helps him brake tackles after the catch as well as blocking on running plays. His strength made him a threat in the red zone for Russell, as he caught 65 passes for 990 yards and 12 touchdowns this past season. He hasn't had as much playing time in college as some players receive, which creates some hope that he'll have a chance to explode in the NFL.

His speed is only average, and he needs to work on his route running ability. He needs to focus more on catching the ball with his hands in certain situations, rather than using his body exclusively. Sometimes, the mental mistakes get the better of Bowe, as he drops the ball occasionally and has difficulty recognizing defensive coverages.
