View Full Version : DeMarcus Tyler "sims"

POSITIVES: Explosive, dominating interior lineman who takes over games when focused. Solid athlete who displays lateral movement skills, keeps his feet moving on contact and drives blockers off the ball. Plays with good lean and possesses top overall body strength.

NEGATIVES: Must develop more moves as he tends to solely lower his head and bull-rush opponents off the ball. Marginal skills as a pass rusher. Does not chase hard to get involved in the action.

ANALYSIS: A lineman who can be a dominant force on the inside, Tyler is known as a player who turns it on and off. Does not give consistent effort on the field, nor does he properly condition himself off it. Offers a great amount of upside, yet must first get serious.

PROJECTION: Late Second Round

Honestly, so many DTs are like that. Some improve and "get it," some you can live with what they give you, and some are named Ryan Sims.

Reason #1 that he isn't Sims....

we picked him toward the BOTTOM OF THE 3RD ROUND!

Those negatives sound well negative. He sounds lazy.

NOR DOES HE PROPERLY CONDITION HIMSELF.

That, to me, is the bite in the ass.

Funny thing is when we draft someone, people only really point out the negatives. NO matter who we drafted someone is always going to be unhappy.

Herm imo had a hell of a draft last year. I will wait to whine about anything.

In other words, he's got pretty much the same issues as all the other defensive tackles.

Didn't Krumrie say a while back that Tyler "Passed the test"?

No, Sims was never this ****ing huge and strong.

and he has character issues? This was interesting to find out, especially considering we are dealing w/ J. Allen and what Herm says about that chit.

Hence why he was a 3rd-rounder. The first sentence was why some had him rated as a 1st-rounder for a while.

oh well, Kiper said his abilities are worth low 1st-high 2nd, we got him in 3rd. IM cool with it.

Some mocks had this guy going in the late first early second a few weeks back...some had the Chiefs taking him at that point. It's a good value pick at a position of need. I have no truck with this selection.

Now, here's hoping we trade Green for Miami's #4 and get Doug Free out of the deal.

Yeah, for some reason, I kinda like the fact that Tyler is willing to assault a cop --seems like a strong trait for a DT. The guy is, apparently, an animal. Maybe he'll be like a Lawrence Taylor bad attitude. We can just have the Kansas DOC wheel him out onto the field on Sundays, remove his shakles, let him play, and then put him back in his cage until the following week. It might get awkward that he never gets to play road games (except for @STL), but maybe the governor will let him leave the state in exchange for suite tickets or something...

I agree. We won't know anything til these guys play a down in the nfl. I trust Herm and believe he is one of only a select few coaches that know how to change a kid with character issues.

Herm may suck and be a bit clueless on the offensive side of the ball, but he sure in the hell can draft on defense.

My only wish is for Herm to realize its ok not to run the clock out with 15 min to go in the first quarter.

hebegone because of his shitty attitude and immaturity...

we've had so much trouble drafting at dt over the past 90 years or so, i'm pleasantly surprised that we might actually have drafted one, er two of them this time that look very promising...
