Carl holds no leverage in these negotiations. I wonder if Carl actually does want to keep Green, and will use this ploy with Miami as an excuse to pay Trent his money. If so, Edwards won't be happy.

The Miami Herald reports the Dolphins hope to complete the QB Trent Green trade as early as today -- assuming the Kansas City Chiefs lower their last request for the veteran quarterback by the time the sixth round of the draft is complete. The Chiefs have been asking for a fourth-round selection for Green, but Miami is not exactly enamored with the idea of paying that price. The Dolphins would love to get Green for a sixth-round pick or perhaps multiple seventh-rounders. That will depend largely on the Chiefs. ''Time will tell,'' Miami GM Randy Mueller said. The Dolphins have two picks in the sixth round today and three selections in the seventh round.

I'm going to go to a car dealership today and tell them I want an SUV for the price of a compact car.

The Dolphins have an aging defense, and a sieve like O-Line.

They aren't going to win their division, and more than likely will finish behind the Jets for 3rd.

If they make the playoffs, they won't be able to compete with the big boys.

The only benefit they get from trading for Green is a guy that can improve the learning curve for that offense.

But with of the age of their defense, and that O-Line, what difference does it make if it takes them 16 or 24 for games to learn that offense?

If the Dolphins offered more than a conditional 3rd round pick for Trent, and that condition didn't include a playoff appearence by the Dolphins at least, I'd have to question their sanity.

If I were Mueller, the highest I would go is a conditional 4th round based on playing time and performance.

WHY THE HELL ARE WE KEEPING HIM? We have to get younger and that's what Herm is trying to do and Carl is standing in the way.

You can't get younger if you don't have the young talented players to get younger with and the Chiefs are lacking in this area, especially at QB.

Brady Quinn would have at least given the Chiefs a legit QBOTF to work with and trading up from 23 to 22 wouldn't have been a huge price to pay to get this guy.

Bold/aggressive teams make these types of moves. Teams like the Chiefs settle, which is exactly what the Chiefs did.

If Brodie Croyle isn't starting QB in game one you won't have to worry about me bashing Carl because I won't give a shit enough to watch the team. I'll be getting a lot of fly fishing and kayaking done on Sundays.

If the Dolphins offered more than a conditional 3rd round pick for Trent, and that condition didn't include a playoff appearence by the Dolphins at least, I'd have to question their sanity.

If I were Mueller, the highest I would go is a conditional 4th round based on playing time and performance.

I wouldn't take that deal if I was Carl. Their o-line may be worse than ours.
