View Full Version : Enough already...How many friggin Rams
04-17-2001, 03:11 PM
do the Chiefs need to sign....
I'm starting to feel like I did as a kid the summer my mom canned 2000 quarts of green Beans...beans for breakfast, beans for supper, beans for snacks..(not really, but it sure seemed like it)
I haven't been so tired of hearing about another football team since living with a friggin Donk fan during the Superbowl run....grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
CB Taje Allen, TE Mark Thomas Agree to Two-Year Contracts
APR 17 (afternoon)--Kansas City Chiefs President Carl Peterson announced on Tuesday that unrestricted free agent cornerback Taje Allen and free agent tight end Mark Thomas have each agreed to terms of a two-year contract with the club. As per Chiefs policy, no further terms of the agreement were disclosed.
Tired tired tired of the fuggin rams talk.

Allen, if I recall correctly, is a special teams stud.
Now, if they go get Whigham from the Pats too, the Chiefs special teams are going to be vastly improved.. although that was happening regardless once we shoved Stock's worthless *** out the door.
Say what you will about how the Chiefs haven't done much (and they most certainly haven't), but Special Teams is becoming less and less of a problem...
04-17-2001, 03:24 PM
I don't think its specifically the Rams players that have been signed...I actually think signing Holt is good if he can stay away from the candy man. I'm not particularly against taje for the reasons you stated....
I think I'm just soooooo sick of hearing about the Rams this and Rams that, Trent Green trent green trent Green....I'm nearing the point I dont' want him because I can't stand the sound of the name.....Its driving me toward the breaking point.....I'm quickly becoming a Ram Hater.
keg in kc
04-17-2001, 03:27 PM
Allen was a good pick-up - he's a good special teams player (and we need help with the ST in the worst way.......). I don't care who we pick up, as long as he can help the team...
The TE I've never heard of, but I don't expect much since he wasn't able to land a roster spot in his previous two years in the NFL, although he does seem to be an, uhm, XFL standout at tight end *cough*.
04-17-2001, 03:27 PM
I understand where you're coming from. Yeah, being thought of as Rams West blows.
Still, there is one more Ram to pick up in all likelihood and it's not D'Marco Farr... :)
04-17-2001, 03:28 PM
Carl now has two leagues cornered, the CFL and the XFL.
Just praying he's not looking to move on the Pop Warner League...
04-17-2001, 03:30 PM
I just wish Carl and the Ram GM would do the ol' South Park "Bow sham bow" for Trent....no picks exchanged...
I just think I've reached my limit of Ram talk....get to the draft and get on with OUR team....
~wishing the Lamb fans would crawl back into their "no winning seasons in 20years until 99" hole.
04-17-2001, 03:34 PM
Repeat after me.... this will sooth you and cheer you up at the same time.
54 to 34
54 to 34
54 to 34
54 to 34
54 to 34
With feeling! :)
54 to 34
54 to 34
54 to 34
54 to 34
04-17-2001, 03:36 PM
What about Horne, you havn't mentioned that the Chiefs gave Horne an offer sheet and if the Rams don't match, we get him...a speed WR and a bonafide KR and PR specialist...
and Iowa, I agree...But I think Carl needs to "South Park" Georgia Fontenirie, she probably has bigger balls then the Rams GM...:D
04-17-2001, 03:38 PM
Couldn't have said it better myself.
Memo to Carl: Keep your belt buckled and your zipper fastened, 'cause the Rams owner is going to pay a visit to... ahem, "entice" you.
04-17-2001, 05:52 PM
54-34 says it all.....
My question and my own answer..Does it really make any difference how many of the Rams players are traded to the Chiefs? If it improves us what is the difference? I don't see it as any different than getting several from any other team. I know like you all, I TOO am very tired of the RAM fans that don't have anything else to do but bug us. That just shows that they are fearing the Chiefs, which I see as a good thing. But since we are in different leagues what is the difference who signs who?
"Carl now has two leagues cornered, the CFL and the XFL.
Just praying he's not looking to move on the Pop Warner League..."
I can see Carl now with a bag of lollipops in one hand and an nfl contract in the other...WAIT...WHAT AM I SAYING...He's been using that approach for years! Problem is that any talent that would have actually benefited the Chiefs weren't sucking on Carl's lollipops...they were yanking his cocktail weenie & moving on to another team!
04-18-2001, 07:27 AM
Alright....now that I've slept on it and took my fat agression out on my house project...i feel a little better.
I also think that Horne is a good pickup if the Lambs don't match. Taje is a good special teams pickup and If he can offer any dept at CB, thats a decent move too.
I am just opposed to becoming the KC Rams. now we have the coaches, half the friggin team, and all of the bozo, smack talking, salty dog pudding eating 1999fans on the boards pi$$ing me off.
I can't get all of the solice out of the 54-34....I was in Spain, didn't see the game and my pal didn't record it because he thought he was saving me from agony....
I still can' t believe how much trash the Lambs talk considering the 54-34......even though the Chiefs clobbered the Chargers in Arrowhead, i wouldn't think of bringing that up.....
Its better now...really...
04-18-2001, 07:56 AM
iowa...sometimes you just have to get your mind off of it, or it'll make you sick.
get away from the pc and do something else. work on the house...drink a few cold beverages...eat some green beans.
i think my grandmother still has green beans she canned in 1964.
04-18-2001, 07:58 AM
Think having a bunch of ex-Rams is bad? Try poor Washington! They have ALL THREE STOOGES, as well as two of our COMMITTEE castoffs! Those poor, poor bastids....
04-18-2001, 08:28 AM
excellent point. Maybe 20-30 of us should go to Washington boards and bomb their board with "your coaches suck"and.....no, that's not my style....why kickem' while their down.
There is nothing like breaking boards and starting a fire(outside btw), and ripping stuff up to release some pent up aggression....I don't touch a computer away from work......just wish it would warm up a little so I can catch some bass and find some mushrooms.
04-18-2001, 08:34 AM
iowa...i caught a few catfish last weekend, but no mushrooms so far. a buddy of mine said he's found a few little ones, but he's a drunk and a liar so i dont really know.
04-18-2001, 08:40 AM
I've been out 3 short times after some bass and have only had one bite....the conservation guy up here says the small bass and panfish are active....
I've been more concerned with constructing motorcycle trails and a track down at my folks...the brothers and I are working pretty hard to make stuff to hurt ourselves on....its pretty cool so far and nothing too serious yet..1 concussion to a cousin...not bad considering.
mushrooms. I think your pal is full of shiite...Its just been too cold..plenty of moisture but it has to warm up....a few 70 degree humid days and they'll pop....I'm guessing 2 weeks.? but what in the h@ll to I know. ;)
I'm trying to decide on a new bow this year too...I'm leaning towards Mathews with a PSI coming in second...any preferences?
04-18-2001, 08:48 AM
i like my golden eagle...it's a little heavier than most, but pretty comfortable to hold when you're in a stand. i have a new bowhunting mag at home that's got a good writeup on new bows. good stats and comparisons. i could send it to you, if you want.
04-18-2001, 08:55 AM
If you can tell me what the mag is and which issue, I can pick up a copy...save you the postage and you'll still have something to read.
I've shot a couple of Mathews' bows...they are a short bow(which is nice sometimes) and light and shoot over 300fps....My brother got one last year and its definitely alot better than my old Bear. I wouldn't mind a Baby G but I think if I'm upgrading I might as well at least check out my options.
Turkey hunting this weekend?
04-18-2001, 09:02 AM
iowa...i get a few of em. i'll find out when i go home at noon and let you know.
i guess i'm ready for turkey season...the last few years i've just been taking the bow out instead of a shotgun. ever try to draw back on a turkey?
04-18-2001, 09:04 AM
I've tried before with not a whole lot of luck. They can just see too good. I'd definitely set up a canvas blind if I were to try again.....but on the other hand, it is my belief that turkeys are dumber than they were 10 years ago.
04-18-2001, 09:13 AM
iowa...could be you're right. i know a person who nailed a rat trap to a tree in the woods and put a kernel of corn on it and set it. next day he went out and checked it and it had snapped and caught a turkey.
(wouldn't ever do this himself cause it's not legal)
04-18-2001, 09:55 AM
Sec & Iowa - now you`re talking my language. Bow hunting turkeys and mushroom hunting. I agree, I would never try to hunt turks with a gun. It`s quite a challenge with a bow. As for the shrooms, get them anyway you can. My grandfather used to say "when the plum bushes bloom" on when to find the mushrooms. We have logged our outings for years and we always seem to hit `em the first week in May...
04-18-2001, 10:09 AM
ptlyon...i can eat a couple of them, but when i find one, it's a real rush.
they tell you:
"look under the maple trees"
"look under the elm trees"
"look around the mayapples"
the biggest ones i've ever found were at big lake state park growing out of ashes in a freaking bbq grill
04-18-2001, 10:13 AM
I'm not sure how much i'll get out after the turkeys this year. I've got a seized bearing in my dirt bike I need to get fixed...pronto(going to a riding place near springfield next thursday/friday and that doesn't work very well with a locked up motor), would like to get in some bass fishing, and need to do the woman thing a little this weekend...I suppose early mornings for turkeys, midmorning moto repair/shop delivery, afternoons bass fishing and woman at night....
I think the end of April/1st part of may the gray mushrooms start...i don't spend much time after them....
~going to need work monday to rest up.
04-18-2001, 10:13 AM
Sec - Forget where people tell you to look for them, look Everywhere!!!
I have found them just about everywhere from near fallen trees, in the trees, in pastures, virtually everywhere. The only thing that holds you back is your backpack cooler getting empty of full beer cans with empty ones.
FYI - Here`s a link to some interesting websites dealing with Morels....
04-18-2001, 10:16 AM
maybe we should start a "goof off thread" for huntin, fishin' and mushroomin'....for our redneck american friends......i think my anti ram rant might exclude some interested folks.
04-18-2001, 10:17 AM
Iowa - sounds like the busy life and sounds like you have it planned out just like a guy's guy should!
Keep us posted on the shroom findings.
04-18-2001, 10:20 AM
ptlyon...thanks. i'll check it out. the backpack cooler sounds like a good idea. i have one on the 4wheeler and load my pockets w/full cans. if i'm not careful and dont drink them fast enough they get warm. (like it matters)
