**shudder**

Going to the land of the Bronco to work in Broomfield. So far, the housing prices are stupid. I have found some rather reasonable prices in Denver and Aurora. Any thoughts on these places?

Yes, watch out for homos and retarts.

I'd wait to buy until the housing market collapses completely... especially in Denver. Existing home sales last month skyrocketed, but it was because prices were down 11% nationwide (probably more in what were once hot markets). Sit tight and rent.

I wish we could. We have a small zoo that we are bringing with us and renters want nothing to do with us.

Welcome. We only allow the best CP'ers here (except for Rain Man, Da Face, DenverChief, et al). You don't want to the commute from Aurora to Broomfield, or Denver for that matter. Maybe find something in Boulder.

Title: Get Out Of Denver

I still remember it was autumn and the moon was shinin
My '60 Cadillac was rollin through Nebraska whinin
Doin a hundred twenty man the fields was bendin over
Hay down our motor mount and snowin, we was travelin further
All the pipes were blazin and the screamin wheels turnin, turnin
Had my girl beside me brother, brother she was burnin, burnin

Break A hooked up babtist preachin souther funky school teacher
She had a line on somethin heavy but we couldn't reach her
We told her that we needed something that would get us going
She pulled out all she had and layed it on the counter showin
All I had to do was lay my money down and pick it up
Asked how much she needed, man, we lit out in a pickup truck & GO

Get outta Denver better go, go
Get outta Denver better go-ooooh
Get outta Denver better go, go
Get outta Denver cause you like just like a commie and you might just be a member, better
Get outta Denver, better, get outta Denver
Well, red lights are flashin and the sirens were a screamin
We had to pinch each other just to see if we was dreamin
Made it to Loveland Pass in under less than half an hour
Lord, it started drizzlin and it turned into a thunder shower

The rain kept drivin but the Caddy kept on burnin rubber
We kept on drivin til we ran into some fog cover
We couldn't see a thing somehow we just kept on goin
We kept on drivin all night long and then into the mornin
Fog had finally lifted when we looked to see where we was at
We're sailin in a column had a state policeman trooper's hat

Get outta Denver better go, go
Get outta Denver better go-ooooh
Get outta Denver better go, go
Get outta Denver cause you like just like a commie and you might just be a member, better
Get outta Denver, better, get outta Denver

Scat................... go, go
Scat................... go-ooooh
Scat................... go, go
Scat................... cause you like just like a commie and you might just be a member, better
Get outta Denver, better GO!

I still remember it was autumn and the moon was shining
Our 60 Cadillac was roaring through Nebraska whining
Doing 120 man the fields was bending over
Heading up for the mountains knowing we was traveling further
All the fires were blazing and the spinning wheels were turning turning
Had my girlfriend beside me, brother, she was burning burning

I walked up back to speak to this southern funky school teacher
She had a lot of something heavy but we couldn't reach her
We told her that we needed something that would get us going
She pulled out all she had and laid it on the table showing
All I had to do was lay my money down and pick it up
The cops came busting in and then we lit out in a pickup truck

Go! Get out of Denver, baby, go, go
Get out of Denver, baby, go
Get out of Denver, baby, go, go
Get out of Denver cause you look just like a commie
And you might just be a member
Better get out of Denver
Better get out of Denver

Well, all red lights were flashing and the sirens were screaming screaming
We had to pinch each other just to see if we were dreaming
Made it to lovely Pass in under less than half an hour
Lord, it started drizzling and it turned into a thundershower, oh!

The rain was driving but the Caddy kept on burning rubber
We kept on driving till we ran into some fog cover
We couldn't see a thing but somehow we just kept on going
We kept on driving all night long and then into the morning
Fog had finally lifted when we looked to see where we was at
We're staring at Colorado state policeman trooper cat

Go! Get out of Denver, baby, go, go
Get out of Denver, baby, go
Get out of Denver, baby, go, go
Get out of Denver cause you look just like a commie
And you might just be a member
Better get out of Denver
Better get out of Denver

Go! Get out of Denver, baby, go, go
Get out of Denver, baby, go
Get out of Denver, baby, go, go
Get out of Denver cause you look just like a commie
And you might just be a member
Better get out of Denver
Better get out of Denver

Meh. I came to Denver from Austin, and I like Denver much better.

Commuting from Aurora to Broomfield would be bad, unless you live on the north side and cut across on 270.

Like most metro areas, many of the suburbs are interchangeable. If you can't find something you like in Broomfield, you're not going to find it in Aurora.

If I worked in Broomfield, I would live in one of the following places (in descending order of my own preferences):

1. Broomfield. It's not the flashiest city, but I hate commuting.
2. Louisville/Longmont/Lafayette. The L towns seem to be nice places to live, and they're not too far.
3. Lyons. The fourth L town is a bit of a commute, but it's a very nice little community with a rural feel that's within reach.
4. Thornton/Northglenn/Westminster/Arvada, etc. Established older suburban cities. Not flashy by any means, but close and probably cheaper than other places.
5. Denver. All the cool people live in Denver, and it's got the best of everything - arts, restaurants, culture, etc. If you live in Denver, you'd at least be commuting against the main traffic flow.
6. Brighton/Commerce City. I don't know if there's a good direct road from these places, but they're up and coming cities on the north end.

I think Denver is a great town, if you can avoid the Broncos fans (present company excluded, of course). The weather is awesome. The recreational opportunities are outstanding. It's got everything a big city should have, and if you liked the things Austin had because it's a college town, you've got Boulder nearby. If you're going to be doing much business travel, you should check out the location of the airport because it's not what I'd call centrally located.

I wouldn't live in Aurora though... unless you're in the right gang, of course.

I tell ya. I'd really recommend Atlanta burbs for all around comfort, convienence as well as cleanliness and C.O.L. .

If any of you could pick up and leave you'd be happy you did. Lotsa perks here. Only downfalls are: No good BBQ and No Chiefs other than that there are lots and lots of women -> if you're single. I'm not; and Atl. is why. anyhow, I just wanted to give my feedback. Sorry to hijack.

Carry on...

Welcome to the dark side!

I'm the n00b out here, but in my limited knowledge I like the northern area of the metro the best (Thornton/Westminster/Northglenn, etc.). Have fun house hunting!

Meh. I pretty much consider anything north of County Line Road to be the DMZ.

Look at that. Denver has a "County line road."

Kansas City has a "State line road."

Funny you should say that. I was initially slated to be moved to Atlanta, but I got a better offer in Denver.

Well, thanks for all the input. I will definately take this in to consideration. This has helped immensely!

I don't know what C.O.L. is, but I'm guessing it's some kind of infectious disease that rots the brain leaving behind a shambling mass of rotten flesh who thinks hot humid smog filled crime ridden cities are great places to live. Especially when they prefer the generic suburbs which are pretty much the same in all cities (strip malls anchored with Home Depots, etc, traffic congestion, large roads, cookie cutter houses, and so on).
