I didn't see the YouTube video on the thread, so here it is. When I first heard about it, I didn't think there was any way it could sound good... but DAMN!

Who is Gretchen Wilson?

"Outlaw" Country singer....she's part of the Memphis Mafia (Big & Rich, Cowboy Troy, and a few others) who have kind of resurrected the 'rebel' brand of country that Hank Jr, David Allan Coe, Waylon Jennings, etc had in the 80's.

Man I wish AIC would find a new lead singer and put out some new stuff. The magic may have left with Staley, though.

*******I don't know much about current country music, but I can't imagine comparing someone named Big & Rich or Cowboy Troy with Hank Jr., Coe, or Jennings. I'm guessing that might get you roughed up a bit in the bars I attended as a teen.

I thought she sounded damn good as well but given the choice I'll still take Ann Wilson's vocals.

Cantrell was (is?) certainly the musical force, but you just never can tell what will happen to a band when they lose a guy.

You know, I never really had a strong appreciation for Heart until other people started covering their material recently. Now I remember how talented they really were. Amazing band for a lot of years.

Little piece of Heart trivia; Ann & Nancy are the daughters of a former 4 star Commandant of the USMC.

While Cowboy Troy wasn't a part of the concert, there was an "Outlaw's Concert some time back.....Hank Williams Jr., Gretchen Wilson, Big & Rich, Tanya Tucker, Montgomery Gentry, Kid Rock, Jessi Colter, Shooter Jennings (Waylon's kin), Metallica's James Hetfield, Gary Rossington from Lynyrd Skynyrd, Billy Powell and Johnny Van Zant.

Not the same as David Allan Coe or Waylon...but it's the latter day version.

Ann also tells a story of how she had a boyfriend who dodged the draft and she went to Vancouver with him. When he snuck back in the states with her to meet her parents she was afraid of what her dad was going to say about him but apparently according to the interview I saw,her dad told the young man he was smart and looking back he'd wished he'd done the same thing.

They've got a concert showing on DirecTv this month where they play the entire Dreamboat Annie album and then finish out with some amazing covers one being Zep's Misty Mountain Hop and it is nothing short of phenomenal.

For me personally though Cook With Fire is one of my favs. The song starts about 2 minutes in.

Gretchen is a sweetheart. I spent 3 days sitting next to her in defensive driving school. Back then her hair was blonde but she still looked just as hot.

I'm a big fan of the Dreamboat Annie album.

Nancy is a beast on the guitar and Ann has an incredible voice.

As for the OP, that's a very good performance.

I remember seeing Heart in Jax, FL (right about 1990). They put on a great show and Nancy is still hot!

Gretchen Wison did a great job singing there song!

not sure if the jeans could become any tighter.... I think she has 56 cents in her back pocket in 1 quarter, 3 dimes and a penny and they are all showing heads...

Sounds amazingly like the real thing.

That appears to be Nancy Wilson playing the sunburst Les Paul. Curious if a reason was given why Ann Wilson was not singing for a VH1 special?

When my wife and friends conned me into agreeing to go to the Country Stampede last year (yeah, too much tequila for me and I'll agree to just about anything :cuss: ). The one thing I came away from the Gretchen Wilson concert was how well she did Heart.

Because that was taken from the VH1 Rock Honors where a special guest covered a song of the band being honored and then the honoree(s) came out and performed.Ann and Nancy and the rest of the band got together after that song and performed.

Layne died 5 years ago, but Cantrell went solo almost 10 years ago. I saw in VA Beach in 2000, (with Days of the New and Metallica), and when he came to KC last year it was a great concert. They aren't as big as they were when the Seattle scene was in its hay day, but I think he has still be pretty good.

I heard a rumor that they were back in the studio for a while before they start the summer tour.

Nothing, if you are in to trailer trash.
The chick looks rode hard and put away wet. The only thing that she has going for her is that she has false teeth, which would come in handy if you enjoy humping dirty white trash chicks.
