New breed of cat retails for $22,000

From the we're-not-making-this-up department comes news that a company called Lifestyle Pets has introduced the Ashera, a new breed of cat that retails for $22,000. Sunroof extra.

Billed as the world's "largest, rarest and most exotic domestic cat," the Ashera is the size of a small dog -- and we're not talking Paris Hilton-style pooch. Top weight is about 30 pounds.

Developed by crossing two exotic feline bloodlines -- the African serval and the Asian leopard cat -- with a regular old domestic cat, the Ashera has leopardlike spots and contrasting tiger stripes and a smile that will scare the mailman. We kid. The news release says Asheras are intelligent, great with kids and OK with being walked on a leash. If this is the pet of your dreams, visit lifestylepets.com and start stocking up on fresh meat.

One year of insurance? It better come with a "lifetime" head to tail guarantee!

What a pussy, though.

I would truly question its domestic personality. We have been raising these cats for the past 4 years, for and because of the consistant puppy like personality. One one of my male studs weighs 21lbs and stands 19" and he walks on a leash into Petco. Here's my website..

That's a lot of money to have an otherwise perfectly fine house smell like street bums have been urinating in the heating vents all winter.

Frazod's friend after seeing litterbox:"Whoa what the hell, you got a mountain lion for a pet?"

I was also thinking if you could trust it,looks as though it might try and make a midnight snack out of its owner.

Looks like a regular cat with a long neck. I'm not paying $22,000 for a cat with a long neck. Maybe an extra long tail, but not a long neck.

$22,000? Does it still taste like chicken?

Sam Hall

The company is requiring that the cats be spayed or neutered upon purchase so people don't breed them and make serious cash.

What the shit? I'm spending $22K on a damn domestic pet, and I don't even have the option to breed it?

People will throw down $22k for a cat, but they are unwilling to have the patience to come up with their own creation

The cat breed isnt new, just new advertising campain with a fancy new name. Its the same as a F2 Savannah Cat that can be purchased for a fraction of the price.

That's kinda like naming a fighter jet "milo".
