cbs.sportsline.com has a teaser at the top of the page saying he's the next coach of the Orlando Magic. That's a surprise!

I would be surprised. He passed on the magic of Rupp Arena at Kentucky.

He obviously lost tons of talent, but he had a sweet recruiting class on the way.

True, but what more could he accomplish in the College Ranks?

He has already won b2b NC's... Hell other than the RAT at Duke, nobody has done that since UCLA cheated their asses of in the 70's or whenever they did...

The Magic offered $6 million a year, according to ESPN.com. He's expected to take the job.

That and it is his baby. The program was garbage when he took it, and now they are on the verge of being an elite school. I thought he was looking for Coach K status.

Come on guys, its only a matter of time before he bolts to the NBA. He still hasnt signed his extention with the gators which should tell you something. If he doesnt leave this year he will soon enough. The gators 15 minutes are just about over.

he can go the nba, make 6 mill for a few years, fail, then come back to college and have any job he wants...

I'm pretty sure Self would do the same thing if he ever wins a title at KU, at least that's always been the rumors.

He could have had any job he wanted after LAST SEASON. He must have had his eyes set on the NBA throughout the college coaching carosel.

He would be an idiot if he left the UF job. He could have the UF job for as long as he wants and he will probably always be succesful just because it is so easy to recruit players to come to Florida. You would at least think that he would leave for a higher profile job than to go to work for some 2nd class organization like the Magic.

In the sports world, I'm never surprised when someone leaves a good situation for millions of dollars more. Money is a powerful incentive.

Nor should you be. It's always interesting to me how fans disregard the amounts of money being thrown around, suggesting a coach should stay despite being offered a $3M raise. People say, "money can't buy happiness". If you're a guy like Donovan, with kids, and you have the opportunity to not only set yourself up for life, but also your kids and maybe their kids.....don't you jump at the opportunity? It's not like he's being asked to go from coaching to digging ditches.

Orlando is in a no-win situation here. If he tanks, and they fire him, he still gets all his $$.

They pretty much have to let him go.

They were overpaying for him anyway.

Donovan has just became a joke...

What a putz....

He is joining these clowns.. per Fox Sports Creighton coach Dana Altman was introduced as Arkansas' new basketball coach earlier this spring, then decided to return to Creighton two days later.

Altman's reversal was not without precedent. In 1993, Bobby Cremins accepted the South Carolina job, then reneged two days later and returned to Georgia Tech.

And in June 2006, Charleston hired Winthrop's Gregg Marshall, but Marshall told the Cougars one day later he was returning to Winthrop.
