Political ramifications, as I understand it, are limited. I saw a brief blurb that said that although the Senator was a Republican, and the Governor a Democrat, under state law the Governor is required to appoint one of the 3 people listed by the state Republican party or somesuch.

Seems like a pretty good law, actually. :shrug:
