Chiefs ink S Williams, DT Gonzalez

The Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with free agent safety Chad Williams and to terms on a two-year contract with rookie free agent defensive tackle Kiki Gonzalez.
Williams appeared in 15 games last season, one of which he started, for San Francisco, notching 25 tackles, 2.5 sacks and one interception.
Williams originally entered the NFL as a sixth-round pick by Baltimore in the 2002 NFL Draft. In 79 regular season games, he has 183 tackles, eight sacks, and nine interceptions.
Gonzalez played in 48 games for Akron, posting 53 tackles and 6 1/2 sacks.

Kansas City Chiefs President Carl Peterson announced on Wednesday that the club has agreed to terms of a one-year contract with free agent S Chad Williams and to terms of a two-year contract with rookie free agent DT Kiki Gonzalez. No other terms of the agreements were made available.
Williams (5-9, 207) played in 15 games (one start) in 2006 for San Francisco, recording 25 tackles (24 solo), 2.5 sacks (-23.5 yards), an interception, two passes defensed and seven special teams tackles.
The sixth-year pro originally entered the NFL as a sixth-round pick (209th overall) of Baltimore in the 2002 NFL Draft. Williams has played in 79 regular season games (six starts), registering 183 tackles (152 solo), 8.0 sacks (-63.5 yards), nine interceptions, 27 passes defensed, a fumble recovery, three forced fumbles and 58 special teams tackles. He also appeared in a postseason contest with Baltimore in 2003. During his four-year tenure with the Ravens he saw action in 64 games (five starts), producing 158 tackles (128 solo), eight interceptions, 25 passes defensed, a fumble recovery, three forced fumbles and 51 special teams stops.
Williams earned third-team All-America honors as a senior at Southern Mississippi in 2001, finishing his collegiate career with 303 tackles (188 solo), 10.0 sacks (-61.0 yards), two interceptions, 15 passes defensed, four fumble recoveries and eight forced fumbles. He was a standout performer at Wenonah High School in Birmingham, Alabama.
Gonzalez (6-2, 300) was a four-year starter on the defensive line for Akron, appearing in 48 games (37 starts). He registered 53 tackles (104 solo), 6.5 sacks (-36.0 yards), 20.5 tackles for loss (-55.0 yards), two fumble recoveries and two forced fumbles. Gonzalez prepped at Elizabeth High School in Elizabeth, New Jersey.
