I mean, I wouldn't want children to play around with an unfamiliar pit bull, but then, I wouldn't want children to play around with any unfamiliar dog.

Both parent dogs are incredibly well tempered. The mother is one of the best dogs I've ever come across. They are from a large family with many young children and the only thing you ever have to worry about is them licking so violently they cause irritation.

I have some new neighbors in the adjoining duplex. They have an Akita. That dog is f*cking vicious. I took my dog out to go to the baņo the other day, and the Akita just charged at her like she was a goddamned rabbit.

My dog's not small, she's 60+ pounds, but it's ridiculous when you can't take your dog outside because the one next door is a menace.

I had a herd of Angora goats we wormed every 60 days. 300 nannies. It took 3 of us 30-45 minutes to herd them all into the barn. One day a buddy showed up with a Standard Collie who was raised in town and had never seen stock animals before. That dog put all 300 goats into the barn in under 10 minutes all by itself. Collies have had that bred into them for hundreds of years. They herd sheep and goats instinctively from birth. I think the same thing exists with Pit Bulls. They attack other animals because that is what they do.

Every puppy bites, it's called teething.

As far as harmful bites, I'd give you an over/under of one with the condition that the owners are responsible and experienced. I would take the under.

I originally wrote "Border collie for the win, more intelligent by a mile"

The video could probably be construed as backing up my argument with evidence. Do you need me to help you with any more comprehension tonight?

See, we are a little more progressive here in Denver, our stance on meathead worthless dogs like pits is "catch em and kill em". Maybe someday you dumbshits in Ohio will catch up, although I doubt it.

Border Collies are superior to EVERY single breed in intelligence and agility. This is proven time and time again in agility events. You're looking real bright in this thread so far though, keep it up Einsten.

I owned a high quality border collie, AKC registered with good bloodlines, that was the dumbest ****ing dog I've ever come across.

Every pitbull, boxer, or Australian Shepard that I have owned or my parents have owned could run circles around that breed. The Aussie was a better herder, the pitbull and boxer were both better all-around dogs.

Take your collie out to Denver and keep it there.

In fairness, what could be seen as stupidity in dogs, like not wanting to follow a command, is often indicative of high intelligence. It's not that they can't comprehend the order, it's that they don't want to do it.

See now if you weren't talking out of your ass you would know that a "AKC registered" BC is considered a piece of shit in the REAL BC community. You bought (and probably overpaid) for an inbred dumbshit example, which so far seems a perfect pet for you. The best examples of BC come from the community devoted to staying out of AKC registration. Holy crap are you a dumbshit, please consider this complete and total dressing down of your intelligence and "knowledge" on this subject a free lesson. Next time you will have to pay to get schooled.

"Because the Border Collie is a performance dog and not a show dog, Border Collie owners over the years have not wanted the breed to be recognized by the AKC and bred for show. As with other breeds not recognized by the AKC, the Border Collie could be entered in AKC-sanctioned obedience and tracking trials through the granting of Indefinite Listing Privileges (ILP) by the AKC. For more than forty years, the Border Collie was a member of the so-called Miscellaneous Class of dogs who were eligible for this type of showing, and many, many Border Collies received ILP numbers and achieved distinction in obedience and tracking. During those years, several AKC presidents and directors publicly stated that the Border Collie was not appropriate for the show ring because of its focus on performance and its lack of physical standardization."

Speak for others around here, because that mos def doesnt apply to me. I said my thoughts about your video (which is still irrelevant), and you said yours. But you can teach almost any dog anything you want, I have showed dogs for ten years so I know what I am talking about. I think its a bit odd you jump into a conversation about pits and start getting all hot and bothered because no one else is turned on by your border collie video.

i'm proud, i made it through the entire thread before commenting on the ignorance of all the pit haters. pits are not for every body, just like not everybody is capable of handling a high energy dog like a border collie or aussie shepard. if you are afraid of any one specific bread, you should not own any dog. temperment, although breed does influence it, is almost completely a result of upbringing. i have a mutt, i knew he had lab and chow, but after seeing pix at top of page, i'm convinced he has pit in him. i had my suspicions, but after seeing the shape of the daddy's head and build i have little doubt now. even with the two "aggressive" breed's in him, i've never seen him be antagonistic, or aggressive towards people or other dogs. btw, he has also been one of the easiest dogs to train i've ever had.

It must be the thin air where you are, my whole point was I dont give a crap if you show a video of some collie doing a talent show act. I guess that just because of that video, the Border Collie must be smarter than Pits, because nobody has made a video of an act like that with a Pit. You are getting your panties in a bundle because nobody cares about your precious Border Collies.

Don't you have a busy day of getting drug around town by a couple of pits, doing your "i'ma baddass walk" in your wife beater, showing off your bad tats to get to?

I'm trying to think of the last time I saw someone in our town walking a pit that looked like they had higher than a GED OR a J-O-B.

2 pits were taken and put down in our town last week. Why? Oh, they pinned a visiting nurse in a home, attacked someone walking by and bit the cop who arrived.

The pit leaped from an open car window from two houses down and went right after the pup. The pit ended up with broken ribs and 40 stitches in it's face. The owner of the pit (a girl around 18) witnessed the whole thing and could not get her dog under control.
