Crying to go back where she is? Only if I were a puss. She has to sit by herself for 23 hours a day, no gang rapes, no beat downs, no shanks, not really anyone to say anything negative to her unless she has to walk by some other inmates going in or our or to wherever it is that she goes in the hour that she isn't in her cell.

Give me some books to read and the time would be easy.

EDIT - this is what I found interesting, good for the judge:

Another of her attorneys, Steve Levine, said, "The sheriff has determined that because of her medical situation, this (jail) is a dangerous place for her."

"The court's role here is to let the Sheriff's Department run the jail," he said.

A former district attorney, Robert Philibosian, also represented Hilton. He said that the law supports the sheriff in making an independent decision on her custodial situation.

The judge interrupted several times to say that he had received a call last Wednesday from an undersheriff informing him that Hilton had a medical condition and that he would submit papers to the judge to consider. He said the papers never arrived.

Every few minutes, the judge would interrupt proceedings and state the time on the clock and note that the papers still had not arrived.

He also noted that he had heard that a private psychiatrist visited Hilton in jail and he wondered if that person played a role in deciding her medical needs.

but it was funny to hear about her crying and yelling for her mom to come and save her from that mean old judge and his henchmen...

even mj (jackson) acted more dignified in court than this crying moma's girl...

it would be hilarious if paris has the original probation revoked and gets another sentence for even more time in jail (i'm reffering to her probation in connecton with the prior driving on a suspended license case)...

45 days, then 3, then 42 (the balance of her sentence in this case), then who knows?

poor paris...

06-08-2007, 03:37 PM
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Screaming and crying, Paris Hilton was escorted from a courtroom and sent back to jail Friday after a judge ruled that she must serve out her entire 45-day sentence behind bars rather than in her Hollywood Hills home.
"It's not right!" shouted Hilton, who violated her parole in a reckless driving case. "Mom!" she called out to her mother in the audience.

Seconds later, the judge announced his decision: "The defendant is remanded to county jail to serve the remainder of her 45-day sentence. This order is forthwith."
Hilton screamed.

Hilton's mother, Kathy, threw her arms around her husband, Rick, and sobbed uncontrollably.

* * *first, what do you get when you put two lawyers in a room?

three opinions...

while the sherriff generally is responsible for running jails, they still have to comply with orders from a judge... (think overcrowding orders)

as far as her attorneys' opinions, keep in mind that they're being paid by paris (or someone else in her family) to present the most favorable impression of paris that they can...

that includes interpreting the law in such a way that it appears to support their client's position...

iow, you shouldn't always believe what attorneys say about their client...

in fact, you shouldn't believe what attorneys say in general... (duh!)

You are such a moron of epic proportions. The sheriff, Lee Baca decided to send her home. Not the media, not the family, not the lawyers and not the judge. The SHERIFF. This will most certainly be an issue during his next campaign because the Sheriff is an elected official in West Hollywood.

Secondly, Paris Hilton did nothing wrong. She showed to serve her jail time on Sunday, then was released to house arrest on Thursday. What crime did she commit since reporting to serve her term?

It's amazing to me that I can defend Paris Hilton but find you indefensible. Amazing.

Paris Hilton accepted a pass out of jail that no one else would get thus she DID something wrong. No one knows WHAT she did to get that pass but we do know very few people in similiar situations get one. The judge was right to send her back to jail. He should have sent the sheriff with her.

Bullsh*t. In a prior post, I mentioned that Michelle Rodriguez spent 4 HOURS for her DUI conviction in the West Hollywood jail, not the 60 days required by the judge. IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME IN WEST HOLLYWOOD.

I could care less who the person is, but I think that 45 days in jail for getting caught driving with a suspended license is ridiculous, no matter what city, county or state is involved. Jail time like that should be for violent offenders, not suspended drivers.

Did she or did she not violate her probation?

Did she or did she not fail a sobriety test that, in part, got her on probation in the first place?

After she was placed on probation did she keep her nose clean and just behave as to avoid ANY reason for her to be treated more harshly than anyone else?

Does the whole case need to be re-iterated to you? She was arrested for reckless driving, violated her probation by driving, then was arrested again for driving because her lawyer advised her that it was only suspended for 30 days (in which she would have been in the clear) but it was actually for six months. She fights it, and ultimately reports to jail.

After reporting to jail, the Sheriff decides to release her. Period. Not the media, not her lawyers, not the judge. She goes home, then reports back to the courthouse to appear in front of the judge and is sent BACK to jail.

How is she being treated differently than anyone else? IIRC, Jared Allen spent 5 DAYS in jail for his SECOND DUI.

If the sheriff chose to release her, I'd think the beef would be with him.

I expected them to send her back to finish the 23 day sentence she started.

So she's sick. That is unfortunate. Depression is serious and it sucks. She should have sought rehab and/or treatment like all her buddies do when they get in trouble. MOF, if she'd done that instead of violating her probation she'd probably be sitting rather pretty right now.

Where did I state otherwise? Meme's is basically stating that there's a "conspiracy" to get her out serving her sentence - whether it be the media, her family, the lawyers, and so on. I find it utterly ridiculous that people ridicule Hilton for going through the normal legal process. Appeals and hearings are a part of any court case. She may be a rich, spoiled brat that's famous only for being famous but that shouldn't mean that she deserves to be treated unfairly by the legal system.

Simplex stated in a related thread that people who drive on suspended licenses "should be thrown in a ditch and shot". Dane, for the life of me i cant understand your constant defense of this girl. Why is she being treated unfairly??? All judges are different & allowed a certain amount of discretion in sentencing in most cases. She got a judge who felt strongly about her offenses, she'd been put on probation, violated that probation, was late for court (no matter the excuse) & drove the wrong way down a street with her lights off at night.

Thats pretty serious stuff & you cant compare her case to another...different laws in different states, judges who interpret laws differently etc. Its 45 days, thats not some brutal sentence. The girl needs to learn a lesson & chillin by her pool drinking Mai-Tai's with all of her pals coming over is NOT going to teach her squat.

I'd bet anything there are plenty of people who got her sentence & worse for what she did.

Ah, I now spot the source of your delusion. I did NOT say that the media or anyone else is conspiring to get PH out of her sentence. I don't believe such a thing is going on.

I do think that Fox News, as a network, has been unusally supportive of this particular law breaker but even then I don't think they are 'conspiring' to have her sprung. I think they are trying to sway public opinion that she is somehow the victim here and it wouldn't surprise me if there was a financial or personal incentive for the network to try...

The mere fact that you think that the Hilton Family has so much influence that they could financially influence Fox and Rupert Murdoch screams Conspiracy Theory.

The Hilton's are worth around $300 million. Rupert Murdoch is worth billions. Aside from that, it would be highly unethical (and highly unlikely) that the Hilton family could even bribe a newscaster or network to report in favor of their daughter.

I wouldn't call it a conspriracy. I'd just say people are trying to use their influence and money to see Paris released before her sentence is fulfilled. That's just being realistic. But saying that, she hasn't recieved any punishment that is not unfair, unlike what some would like to portray.

The way I see it, the Hilton family isn't doing anything illegal. They've hired lawyers and have tried to get to the court to change it's decision. While people who aren't familiar with the trial system may find that repulsive, they're doing everything they can do within the legal framework to get her sentence reduced.

While I agree with many people who've said that this experience "will be good for her" and I agree that it's not "unfair". But considering some of the other examples (Jared Allen, Michelle Rodriguez, Scott Freakin' Wieland!), it's certainly more excessive than would it *could* have been. But the judge decided that leniency wasn't prudent in this case, so there you have it.

But I hardly think there's a "conspiracy" going on.

I heard some LA lawyer on TV the other night say that there is no one in LA County doing 45 days on driving while suspended who has no priors, except Paris Hilton.

From that perspective I can see her point that because of the media attention she might have gotten a much worse outcome than the average Jane Doe would have. That's what media attention would predictably do though. If you are well liked, you get leniency out there. If it was Jennifer Aniston I doubt she would be doing any jail time. But since everyone hates Paris Hilton and is enjoying seeing her suffer, the media pressure had the opposite effect this time.

But still, she knew what she was doing, and that if she were caught she would be throwing herself to the mercy of the justice system. I'm sure she thought she was Teflon but it turns out she was wrong. Nobody, obviously, is feeling sorry for her.

Sheriff Lee Baca accepted a $1,000 campaign donation last year from William Barron Hilton—Paris's grandfather. That contribution constituted the maximum amount allowable under California campaign rules.
In office since 1998, Baca has cultivated close ties to the Hollywood community. Others who donated money to his campaign last year included Rupert Murdoch, Les Moonves, Ron Meyer, Brad Grey, Steven Segal, and Burt Bacharach. He was assailed last year over a claim by the Sheriff's Department that Mel Gibson had been arrested without incident, when the star had actually spewed anti-Semitic statements after getting pulled over for drunk driving. It soon emerged that Gibson had taped a public service announcement for Baca's relief committee.
