Should Mr. Schottenheimer grace the Ring of Fame?
Seriously, if Jack Steadman is up there... shouldnt Marty?

No. Marty had some good years, too many FUs. Cheating on wifey, etc. I don't think he will make it.
Unless he comes back a wins a SB.
Steadman though not a fav of fans, did alot for Lamar and Chiefs

How does a coach win 100+ games for you and earn 7 playoff births, and not make it into your ring of fame?

Ah crap, I'm agreeing with Taco...
...Marty had a great run here, with the exception that he did not get a Conference or League championship. He brought a winning tradition to KC that spoiled us...I mean, we were a lock for the playoffs every year for 7 seasons...it felt great to be a Chiefs fan in those days, at least we always knew we were competative.
I don't remember the cheating on the wife stuff. I respect Marty. I could see him being in the ring, and I wouldn't have a problem with it.

He and his teams brought respectability back to the Chiefs. That has to count for something.

Yes. He should.
He brought back football to KC. They started selling out on his watch.
After selling out and coaching for the Eggos, I say he should qualify for the Toilet Ring Of Fame.

No, no and hell no.

And the AFCW is the AFCW, Mr. MOhillbilly. He wouldn't work for the Raiders, would he? He's said repeatedly that he would not. Yet, he would work for the Eggos. May he rot in hell, the traitorous, inconsistent bastard.

He still brought the fans back to arrowhead. I hear in the 80's that place was a wasteland.

If Steadman is on the RoF, Marty should qualify for it.
I can't wait for Carl's RoF induction (you know they'll put him up there) Arrowhead is gonna boo louder than ever before.

Yeah, but if Steadman is on there he should decline it.

I want to say yes for what he did here but coaches should not be viewed as players are for achievements in my opinion... He did a great job in Cleveland and would have did more in SD without a idiot of a GM/owner..

Maybe Marty should try and win in the playoffs for a change, then he wouldnt be unemployed....
Marty did alot for the Chiefs, but his failures out way eight his success... Therefore, putting a coach in the ring of fame that has lost 3 times more playoff games than he won is kind of embarassing...

Absolutely. He restored pride and toughness to the franchise. He restored our defensive legacy. We were one of the league's laughing stocks before he arrived. Ever since Marty our standard (as fans) has been much higher. He's contributed a lot to chiefs tradition, IMO.

When I was a kid, it was embarrassing to say I was a Chiefs fan...(I said it anyway, but I didn't have much to hang my hat on, till Marty showed up.) Marty did good in KC, overall. Yes I know, didn't win much in the playoffs, but got us there a ton and made the franchise something to be respected.
Yes.
Okay. Yes, then.

The owner might well be an idiot because he didn't allow the GM to fire Marty when he wanted to.
The fact that the GM recognized Marty's weaknesses (inability to win in playoffs and poor offensive talent evaluator) and wanted to replace him suggests strongly that he isn't an idiot.
However, the guy he replaced him with might suggest otherwise.

On the question of whether Marty should be in the RoF, I say "Hell
no".
Regular season success is not how coaching greatness is measured in sports.
It's what you do in the post season that you are remembered for.

With the talent he had in the 90's we should of least WENT to 1 SB. I don't give a **** how many games he won, big ****ing deal. He never took us to the BIG one let alone win it.
