View Full Version : Do you think LJ will get hurt this year?

Seems alot of people think he is headed for an injury given the workload last season. I for one think he is indestructible, which is obviously absurd, but that is me. He HAS taken some nasty hits and gone down akwardly at times without missing so much as a quarter. I think he will be fine.

Late in the first game of the season, Larry will bullrush 4 defenders on a goalline play and get dinged up, forcing him to leave for the rest of the game.

The guys he ran into will miss the rest of the season.

I am going to say Yes!

Herm feeding him the rock at that pace will put LJ out of the league in 2-3 years...

I think the Chiefs have made a committment to NOT doing that this year or in the future.

Would be wise if they want to keep LJ and see him honor his new contract....

416 was pretty pathetic last year.. Especially for a team that got spanked in the playoffs.

How would you have lessened LJ's workload?

Not much choice, Bennett was always hurt, Ross fumbled... No LT so you couldnt pass....

could of ran sneaks to the Mighty Huard all day, but he fumbled way to much as well...

3 kneel downs, punt and play defense?

So basically you agree that they had no choice?

He has no more chance of than any other RB in the league.

everyone gets hurt. I wonder if he will get injured

I honestly don't think so, and I don't think it's homerism.

I think it's the fact that he proved extreme durability last year. He got up immediately after that nastiest of hits and didn't miss a single week when he got his head ripped off.

I think the entire line of thinking that a running back gets "worn down" with a high volume of carries in absence of injury is entirely hog wash. Tailbacks don't wear down with carries alone, they wear down with injuries and age. A lot of times offensive lines regress over the years and that also gives the appearance that a guy is getting worn down.

One guy might get 50 carries and end up injured and be more "worn down" than the guy who carries the ball 700 times and stays healthy. Barry Sanders carried the ball over 3000 times over a 10 year span and didn't appear to have lost anything at the end.

I would worry more about the possible regression of the Offensive line, young QB and conservative offensive play calling causing a drop in his stats than I would his high volume of carries.

I said no, and hope I am right. Hopefully he will not be exposed as much this year, and the new cast of WRs will take some of the load off.

LJ is due for a big injury. Won't happen unless he signs a big deal although.

You know, LJ may be one of those guys who doesn't injure easily. I mean, if it were going to happen, I think that really bad horse collar tackle (last year?) would have done it.

Only if he is traded to the Eagles or some other team like that.

Need I point out that LJ was decapitated against the Cardinals last year, but put his head right back on and didn't miss a game? He's the Terminator with better speed.

He's the Terminator with better speed.

You still don't get it, do you? He'll find her. That's what he does. That's all he does! You can't stop him. He'll wade through you, reach down her throat, and pull her ****ing heart out. Then he'll score a touchdown.

Is it possible that LJ was sent back from the future to keep Priest from breaking the all-time yardage record?

"I'll be [a running] back."

Oh, hey. Lamont Jordan just fumbled again.

He probably did but still doesn't change the deflection from the trend that LJ's knee is due to explode.

Explode like Robert Gallery against a defensive end. Or wait...that's implode.

At least he probably ran for 3.2 yards first. (or whatever)

Behind the fierce downfield blocking of Randy Moss and Jerry Porter.*

*Yeah, I know Moss is gone, but until he plays in a game I'm allowed to consider him a Raider.

I voted no; he should be fine given the fact that Herm has alluded that he plans on lightening the work load this season to take some of the pressure off of LJ. However, having said thus I think the way he runs certainly leaves open the possibility for injury.
