more than half of the people on the active KC roster sucks. It's just something us Royals fans have to deal with.

Alex Gordon strikes out too. Another wasted pitching performance from Meche. How long before he goes postal in the locker room. Buddy Bell has Costa DH tonight and lets Billy Butler sit on the bench. How about pinch hitting Butler in the 9th instead of Emil. This team can try your patience.

That wouldn't be fair to Dougie :banghead:

If I were Meche, I'd be pissed. Twice the Royals had a man on 3rd with 1 out and these bidges failed to get them home. :shake:

It is pretty amazing that the weak spot in our bullpen is Dotel. They are nails right now.

Tonight wasn't a save situation. He's been pretty shaky when a save isn't on the line. We have to keep him there though, he is gonna be prime trade bait here in about a month. They were talking on ESPN the other night saying they think Eric Gagne is going to get a great prospect in return because teams are so hard up for bullpen help. If Gagne can get a frontline prospect Dotel should get us something nice.

I am waiting for Dayton to say something about trades.

Haven't heard anything.

Okay, I think the math's right on this:

Team's 16-14 in their last 30, and if you go back 50, they're playing an even .500 (they were 10-23 on May 8, they're 35-48 after tonight). That's including the 7 game losing streak in late May and the recent 4-game losing streak. June was their first winning month (15-12) since 2003, IIRC.

35th win last year - July 25th (35-64).

If they keep playing .500ish ball, they'd finish the year with 74-75 wins, with 87-88 losses, after going 62-100 in '06.

Agreed...

this is the time to showcase him to the fullest as well as the other few that can get something for us. I wonder if Greinke would be our closer of the future.

Bell f***ed up by putting Brown in to begin with. Brown is not a pinch hitter and Gload is not a person you need to pinch hit for. I don't get Bell at all. Especially the way he uses Gobble. For Christ's sake why did you just not bring in Grienke to pitch to Suzuki? Bell made a couple moronic decisions tonight but lucked out.

Dotel isn't going anywhere. He K'd the side what more do you want? And the way the plate umpire was calling this game that is saying a lot. I mean A LOT!

His lineups are a consistent moronic desicion. Gload at #4?

Why keep a 1 year rental? The guy is a closer and has had his share of saves and K's. He will get traded, someone will want him at the deadline.

I just don't see that happening. In fact why would you screw with our Pen at all right now? You realize in the last month or so our Pen has an ERA of 2?

If I were looking to trade anyone right now it would be Teahen, Sanders, Brown and Sweeney

Are the royals going to get to the playoffs? you think if Dotel gets 25-30 saves he will stay on here when other teams will pay way more? Doubtful, we need more young players here and he is a chip. Why trade Teahan?

I didn't it either. In fact I can't for the life of me figure out why Buck wasn't batting 4th. Either way I think Teahen at this point should probably be 4th until Butler or Gordon develop some and Gathright should be leading off with DD batting 2nd.

Like I said I just don't see it happening. Moore has focused on our pitching and Dotel was one of his big off-season signings. I just don't see it but I have been known to be wrong.

As far as trading Teahen I wouldn't but he is good trade bait. Especially now that he has shown he can play RF and 1st base.

I would love to keep the pen as it is, but we probably have a closer of the future somewhere around here, maybe greinke, who knows. I know Riske probably will be called and asked for as well. We'll see what happens, i also wonder what happend to Teahans power.

You can send Riske and Musser and I could care less. Take Duckworth with you. Is he even still on the team?

I like Grienke right where he is. He does not need to be a closer. He is an awesome middle-innings pitcher and can give you 1-3 innings easy. Gobble, Grienke, Soria, Dotel......those are my guys in the Pen. Those are the guys I go to in games like tonight. Peralta and Riske are inning fillers. Both have some flashes but not liek the other guys I mentioned.

Riske has not been bad at all lately honestly. Everyone pictures Soria as a starter, he has too many quality pitches to stay in the pen. Of course Greinke is still a potential starter as well, we'll see how these coaches do. Duckworth is on the DL, and Musser, well he hasn't shown me shit.

If we get a good offer I really expect Dayton to pull the trigger. There shouldn't be anyone in our bullpen that's untouchable. That doesn't mean we have to trade anyone, but Dayton should be listening to offers and I'm sure he will be.

Bullpen help is at such a premium, it's why we traded way Mac, Sisco, Affeldt, Burgos, etc... And now we really have a better bullpen than we did with those guys. If we can flip them for good talent, I think we should. But this is where I really differed from Baird and go in-line with Dayton. The bullpen is an area that turns over every year anyway, it's hard to find guys to pitch long-term down there (see MacDougal)... and right now the value of some of our guys should be pretty high. There are gonna be some desperate teams out there (Yankees, Cubs...) Dayton needs to be banging down their door Finding 5 good starters is still Dayton's top priority, I'm sure.

Well with the way baseball goes today your Pen is almost if not more important than your starter. Starters are considered quality if they get into the 6th and 7th inning. When you pull someone like Grienke from the Pen and he is humming 97mph heaters and then a 74mph nasty-slow curve ball in the 7tha nd 8th inning you are doing nothing but making it even tougher on the hitters.

Hitters want to get into the ballpen usually why? Cause most guys in the pen only throw heat and their junk pitches are just for show.

I don't want Grienke as a starter throwing 94 and hgetting shelled. I want him coming out of the pen humming them in at 100mph then melting someone's face slow-mo style with huge breaking curve.

Pitchers who can throw junk late in games are more effective if you ask me. Grienke reminds me a lot of Jeff Montgomery only with a 98mph fastball and a much better curve. Not sure Iw ant Girenke as a "closer" but if he comes out int he 8th and gasses hitters then bring him on in the 9th.

I had heard something, not sure the validity, that teahen has been playing kinda roughed up for the past couple of months, which is why they decided to play him a couple games at 1st to get his bat in there without all the running around in the outfield and whatnot.

Well other than the DP he hit into and the foul ball he dropped tonight he looked pretty good. He hasn't had the HR power this year but he came through tonight with a couple nice hits and totally got the hose job from a guy at 3rd base pretending to be an Umpire.

Royals win baby whoo hoo. Also i think we need to shore up on starting pitching and a better bat.
