I'm on the pyro team for a big country club fireworks display tonight and in a town about an hour away tomorrow night. Never done this before... but I do have a small fascination with fire... heh heh... didn't tell them that.

Anyone ever done this larger scale stuff before?

Hoping not to lose a limb... at least not my own.

This WAS to be my 2nd year of assisting the firing of the Fredonia KS show; but it's been postponed due to the floods. It's a blast. *ahem*
Wear some kind of eye protection. There's a lot of shrapnel falling.

Yea... have to wear eye protection, a hat, long pants, long sleeves... I'm glad it's not 100 degrees today.

All in all, it's pretty badass. One more show & I can take my test to be a certified pyro. My wife's so proud. LOL

I shot the Topeka shows at Lake Shawnee and Lake Perry from 1999 until last year. Then I got a real job 600 miles away.

I'm going through withdrawals.

Are you going to the show at Coors Field tomorrow. It's rather nice.

I probably would, but we're going to the Blues Traveler concert at Red Rocks. Hopefully that will ease my pain a bit.

Back from the show. That was freakin SWEET! I only caught fire once too. Felt my partner on the rack I was on patting the hair on the back of my neck then smelled it. HA! Had to pat his shirt out once or twice before it caught too.

Freakin awesome being in the field in the middle of a show. It was at a county club and we were set up in a fairway. 12 guys in teams of two and two directors... and another guy lighting 25 boxes of 300 one at at time. It was like being in a battlefield without worrying about getting shot. Prettier colors too. The weird thing is that you hardly ever get to see the shells you light go off because you have to duck away as soon as it lights... then by the time it explodes you're being showered with crap if you look up.

Doing a bigger show tomorrow night. Can't wait!

I recommend getting on a pyro team if you ever get the chance. The show is way different and way better from underneath.
