View Full Version : Odd observation: SD's O looks just like KC's O looked like four years ago.

The only difference seems to be at the QB position. Rivers and Green aren't worlds apart, but they don't have similar roles on their respective offenses.

But look at the rest. It's uncanny.

All Pro RB
2007 Chargers -- LaDanian Tomlinson
2003 Chiefs -- Priest Holmes

All Pro FB
2007 Chargers -- Lorenzo Neal
2003 Chiefs -- Tony Richardson

Future Star Backup RB
2007 Chargers -- Michael Turner
2003 Chiefs -- Larry Johnson

All Pro TE
2007 Chargers -- Antonio Gates
2003 Chiefs -- Tony Gonzalez

Pro Bowl LT
2007 Chargers -- Marcus McNeill
2003 Chiefs -- Willie Roaf

Elite Interior OL
2007 Chargers -- Dielman, Hardwick, Goff
2003 Chiefs -- Waters, Wiegmann, Shields

Unspectacular RT
2007 Chargers -- Shane Olivea
2003 Chiefs -- John Welbourne

Relatively Poor WR Unit
2007 Chargers -- Jackson, Parker, Osgood, Camarillo
2003 Chiefs -- Kennison, Hall, Morton, Boerigter

Freaky, ain't it?

They are doomed to not make a run in the playoffs.

Will they force Indianapolis to punt the ball? :banghead:

i'd say that Lights Out would have an aneurysm, or slip into a roid induced killing spree if they failed to stop indy.

The difference is that Turner is definitely gone after this year. No way he would stick around when he would never have a chance to start in San Diego.

they lost their O-Coordinator, and have hired one of the worst head coaches in recent memory

I kind of just had a nutty thought.

If we did end up getting rid of LJ, we could do a lot worse to replace him than Michael Turner...

It's too bad they have the defense to go along with it...this Chargers team would be a sure Super Bowl contender if Norv wasn't running the troops...

Good point.

2003 Chiefs get the leg-up, there.

I'd agree with that except I think it'll take more than one season for him to ruin that team.

His problems as HC are primarily talent evaluation and motivation.

The talent is already in place, and I doubt they'll lack motivation.
Those guys will go into this season with a chip on their shoulder.

Turner's strengths are in QB development and playcalling, areas where he might give them an advantage this season.

Good point.

Are you joking?
What Dick did before he came to KC means exactly jack.

What he did in KC is exactly jack.

If Norv sucks ass in SD, then SD and KC will be about exactly even.

That organization has done more to piss away what should have been a guaranteed super bowl the last couple of years.......First they get rid of Drew Brees. Rivers is OK as long as the rushing attack is working well but he can't do much on his own and is a major downgrade from Brees. Then they get rid of their head coach and top coordinators. Then they bring in a guy in Norv Turner who is about 10 years behind the times.

It won't be long until all those young guys are up for contract renewals and by then it will be too late.

You can't blame San Diego for the Brees/Rivers fiasco.

If Brees would've shown a hint of promise before Rivers arrived they never would've drafted Rivers in the first place.
