Well, in the words of Toby Keith, "I've been waitin' all week for the weekend" and it is finally friday. As soon as that damn bell rings through-out these highschool halls at 3:10, I'm going home, calling a "friend" and getting some alcohol, maybe a case of Coors Light bottles. Not sure where I'll be going, maybe I'll just road-trip until a few friends get off work....anyway, that is what I'm doing, getting smashed. Just wondering what ya'll have planned for this here friday night, so lets here it.

1) I sure hope you're not one of the students.

2) I sure hope you and your feinds aren't planning to drink and drive around town.

Sorry to be a wet blanket, it just comes naturally to me ;)

KC,
I think the fact that he's drinkin Coors Light is a pretty good indicator. ;)

Just be careful out there. Nothing ruins a weekend like getting impaled on a steering collum.

Coors Light your favorite brew by chance, Cannibal?

(Bob Dole doesn't drink and drive because Bob Dole hates to spill beer in the car...)

Nope...

I like many kinds of beer, Coors Light is not one of them.

What might yours be Mr. Dole? I didn't think you could drink alcohol, won't it cancel the affects of your viagra?

kind of funny to see you call us puzzies when it smells so fishy near you.

I've drank more than my share of beer and drove home too many times....But I've also been to 5 funnerals in one week due to the above mentioned activity...not mine.....so F@ck me for not wishing that on someone who may not know better.

I just get irritated with how you old crows cry and moan. You sound like a bunch of old broads.

Bob Dole

The Viagra endorsement thing was just to supply some extra income to cover the beer costs.

Bob Dole typically drinks regular old Bud. Buy a case of Boulevard Wheat every month to drink when just sitting around the house and want a single beer. Like to drink Guinness when visiting somewhere that has it on tap. Like to try local microbrews when travelling.

Cannibal

I guess I'm like you Dole. I usually drink Bud.

But I also like Amberbock alot, as well as Fosters, Sam Adams and many microbrews.

I love to tie one on just like the next guy but I'll admit that the guy's post alarmed me as well. We can't very well (as experienced people), sit back and condone that unless the driver is designated sober. The problem is that there is no place for underage kids to drink so they are relegated to cruising around. I think the drinking age should change to 18 nationwide.

Fosters, much like Mexico's Corona is the PBR of it's country. I enjoy Corona with lime every once in a while so I'm not exactly one to poke fun - just throwing some facts out. I mostly drink brown & amber ales.

Hey! I like Fosters!

Of course, I had more Nat. light that blood running through my veins when I was in college, so ....

Me? Well, I'm getting a case of Boulevard Wheat (which I can get anytime I want ... sorry Senator :p ) and then me and the Mrs. get to paint the kitchen this weekend.

If I'm lucky and it stops raining and dries out, I also get to mow the yard ... all 1/3rd acre of it ... with a 22" push mower.

Ahh ... the joys of home ownership.

If I'm really lucky I'll be able to get onling and look at some porn—er—um—I mean check out the intellectual and mentally stimulating discussions here on chiefsplanet.

Mickey's—the Mean Green. Used to drink it all the time. More buzz for your beer dollar.

As far as drinking and driving goes ... just don't. I used to, and a few times I got very lucky. Then I had a friend wrap his Camaro around a telephone pole. Took three hours to untangle the car and another 6 to identify what was left of him. Put a kibash on that real quick.

But I saw the sarcasm in cannibal's post, so didn't say nothin' until now. Come one guys, lets give the newbie (aturnis) a bit more credit.

JOhn--
No thanks on the mowing thing, but can I borrow the riding mower? And does it have a beer holder? :D

Thank god we have vinyl siding. Our house isn't that big, but painting outside sucks. We're doing a rag-rolling technique in the kitchen (wife's idea). Should look cool.

As a member of Law Enforcement, I would strongly urge you not to be behind the wheel if you plan to go out partying tonight. I've seen enough tragedy caused by alcohol. Kid I don't care if you want to go out and get drunk. Just exercise some judgement and don't get behind the wheel. Go party at someones house.

I must echo the other old broad's sentiments here, young fella.

Ya know the old saying 'Respect your elders'? I used to fight that tooth and nail as a younger lad, but now that I just hit 30(last month), I guess I might be an elder now, and I can tell ya cruisin around with alcohol is just plain askin for it.

I consider my self fortunate to have a DUI, cause believe me, as many times as I drank and drove, or rode with a friend who had, it's just plain luck I'm still livin.

I'll never preach against underage drinking, that would be hypocritical big time. But I won't hesitate to be hypocritical to preach against drinking&driving. Find a spot, and down your brews, just make sure you got a safe ride afterwards.

And since it's already been brought up, try Links galore! (www.persiankitty.com)

Ever try Little Kings? Same camel-piss, but in little bottles.

I used to refer to both as 'pepper beer' (because it tastes like Schaffer - with pepper added for flavor)

My favorite beers: Boulevard Irish(nectar!), Blind Tiger Unfiltered Wheat(miro brew/restaurant in Topeka - DAMN good beer!), any non-berry flavored brew by Sierra Nevada or Sam Adams, Red Stripe, and of course, the old standbys: Guiness and Bud/Bud Lite(pool/darts nights)

Every once in a while, I get an urge for Corona with lime. (w/o lime, tastes like crap - squeeze a wedge in the bottle, <i>mighty</i> tasty) ;)

Ahhh... Little Kings, the 2-drink bottle of beer. Bob Dole drank them when in college, and then pretty much stopped. Bad, bad story about a Little Kings bottle...

Can't drink any of the lemonade stuff--gives Bob Dole some seriously bad heartburn.

As teens in SW Mo, we were pretty lucky. Had an old guy that sat a couple of 55 gallon drums up back in the woods and cleared a big area. We'd all park around the edges of the clearing, tune in to KY102, pop the trunk lids, build a fire in one of the barrels and go after it. As long as we kept the trash in the barrels, we were left alone.

Bob Dole tries not to drink then drive any more. Had a really bad experience getting trapped in a parking garage in Houston with some tard...

Stryker

HC_Chief:

Yes I have tried Warsteiner. It is a VERY good beer. We have a bar here in BR called the Chimes that serves beers from around the world (325?) if you drink one of each you get a t-shirt and your name engraved on a plaque (?) and mounted on the wall. I have an uncle who is a flight navigator for an overseas airline and he brings back a variety of beers from europe for me to try.

Your right about the "Slick" Willie pic. I was looking for a Heineken logo and I saw him on their site. It is for an Irish stout that Hieneken was marketing so I added his pic to my post.

Driving drunk isn't (if you are a good driver in the first place) an issue of you running of the road (unless you are completely smashed) it is a question of going to jail and more importantly not having the reaction time to compensate for other drivers... I don't worry about myself BUT I do worry about some idiot who shouldn't be driving in the first place and me not being sober enough to react. ... just another aspect to think about.

Oh and did I mention the jail thing... I have had a few friends go through the whole DWI experience and is a MAJOR pain in the rear (as it probably should be.)

Sorry for coming off a bit preachy earlier. Hell, I'm 37, and get drunk in a ol' peg barn most every Friday night.
I grew up just down the road from you in Marion.
I feel your pain.(Sorry folks)
For those of you that haven't looked it up yet, Manchester is about 45 miles from the middle of nowhere. Getting loaded and driving around is in the genetic code of all males in that area.
I also got my one and only D.U.I in Manchester. Nice jail.

But being from Manchester, I'm sure you've endured countless lectures about those 4 boys up in Edgewood.
I drove past the scence about a week after it happened.
Made me feal very fortunate to have made it thru those years.

I've remained silent on this issue throughout this thread's existence, but each time this thread comes to the top and I read reponses, I get pissed.
This cavalier attitude that you seem to take regarding drinking and driving sheer idiocy. If you've driven and done things that you can't remember, then you have no business behind the wheel. I hope that you do get caught by the police and arressted, and get everthing that the law allows.
If this post seems a bit angry, a bit preachy, or a bit harsh, then you'll have to forgive me if I don't give a damn.

I am sorry for arrogantly misleading you all to thinking that my goal of Friday was to get completely shredded and drive around. When I said I was gonna go grab my beer and road-trip for having a few beers, I seriously meant a few, not as in a few 15-18, that’s a nights worth...unless its a really good night, then you get about a case. When I said a few I was implying about 2-4 beers, nothing to impair, my little sister drinks more than that without getting rocked and she is 16 weighing in at 115lbs. Luckily, throughout this weekend, I did get smashed, and I did not have to drive, sat at my house with a few friends ‘til 10 when my other friends got off of work and we all took off, with a DD. That night was good, got rocked...safely. On cinco de mayo, I was at it again, and still didn't drive, again, my house for awhile, then off to other places, woke up Sunday at 9:30(incredibly early) laying next to a cute blonde...luckily, nothing happened between us, that would be quite regrettable.

Shakesthecat - Yes I've been lectured about the Edgewood boys, knew 2 of them, and really did take that into consideration after it happened, but I, unlike their driver, am not usually legally dead while driving. This baffles me to this day, I still believe they embellished a little on the BAC's of the boys.

The biggest influence on me, with drunk driving, was when a close friend of mine, was killed when the driver of her car caught gravel on the roads edge sending them out of control. The girl killed was in my grade, and all through middle school, I was her crush, and unfortunately, all those years, when she asked me out repeatedly, I shot her down, again and again. I still don't know why, she was the coolest, she loved Nirvana, that was our common bond, she was very good-looking, and fun as hell to be around. When she died, it didn't hit me, until the funeral, at the church, when father spoke of her. He told of her love for her kittens, the many cats she took in, and loved, her love for guitar and music, that is when, I realized it was all real. I cried, noone could stop the pain then, I cried so hard, it was a task to breathe. When they lowered the casket in the cemetery, my older sister, a junior at the time, and my younger sister, a freshman at this point, came to soothe the pain, gave me their Kleenex’s, we all knew her, we all loved her, we all miss her........

I will not let such a thing happen, if I am driving a little intoxicated myself. If I were to wreck alone, no pity to me, I wouldn’t mind, as long as I went off the road, and did not hit another driver. When I have friends, or family (my sisters) or a girl I am with on a deeper level at the time with me, I will not wreck...no matter the circumstances, you must concentrate, and not let the others distract you...

Sorry to those of you who have experience similar losses to mine as a result of drunk drivers...I do believe they are all in a better place now, I do believe they look down upon us and pray for our well-being. I assure you, I will never inflict such a pain onto another human being as long as I roam the face of this great earth....
