My Mom's computer is having a problem.

The keyboard doesn't work once it gets into the windows environment. I can use it in the bios (to get to the boot menu), but I can't use it to log into the windows profile.

Any ideas?

Is it a USB keyboard? Is it wireless?

Driver is probably corrupt.

Just a normal keyboard. Not wireless or USB.

If it's working in BIOS but not working in Windows, I'm guessing it's the driver.

Go into Device Manager and uninstall it. Reboot the computer and allow Windows to discover it again.

Probably fix your problem right there.

Do you have a password on it or something?

You might be able to get your keyboard to work in safe mode. Hit F8 while your computer is booting up and choose safe mode from the list. If you are able to get in, do as htismaqe mentioned. Go to your System control panel, open the device manager, and uninstall your keyboard. Restart, let it reinstall, and you will probably be fine.

Get a USB Keyboard.

Why? Just a waste of $10.

no, because he will likely not have to do anything but plug it in. No drivers to install or anything since he obviously can't use his keyboard to do anything if needed to install a driver
