How does one go about regaining some of his memory back on a PC without changing cards ?

Also, running process ? Do they slow your PC down ? If so, how do you know which ones to close down ?

Just google the process names to find out if they are vital or not. I wouldn't recommend ending any processes that are marked as SYSTEM.

Yes, running process slow down your machine. If you are running windows xp go to start -> Run and type msconfig go to the start up tab and uncheck everything that is not an essential system process (use google as suggested above if you are not sure), this will speed up your boot process and more than likely eliminate some of the running processes that you have after you boot your system.
