Going to the hospital to have our baby. Was a C-section planned for Wednesday, but some minor bleeding prompted the doctor to have us come out today.

Wish us luck....I'll be back with photo's!

Well, I'm back. Not really back. Staying at a hotel, but I can finally post a few pics.

Monday night when we went in, my wife started having contractions. Not something you really want for someone who is to have a c-section. We end up having our baby girl - Peyton Ann - around 9pm. Here's where things get a little tricky.

I noticed the nurses doing some different things than they had with our boys - rubbing her back, flipping her arms/legs up and letting them drop. Peyton apparently swallowed some fluid and it was in her lungs. She was breathing - but struggling to do so. They tried to clean out her lungs with a long thin tube. They got some fluid up, but not all of it. They thought she was doing better, took her back to our room, only to have the on call doc come look at her.

He suggested moving her to the Special Care Unit, putting her on some oxygen just to help her breathing out, etc. Long story short, she was to be at around 21% oxygen (breathing normally on her own), but because she was struggling so much, they had to give her oxygen. They had her steady between 30%-40% - usually on the lower end.

Late Tuesday afternoon, they called and said that she had gone up to 47% and they were having to move her to the NICU. They put her on a cpap machine to help open her open and her breathing. They took some xrays, discovering she had a little pneumonia. Put her on antibiotics.

She's been there since Tuesday afternoon. Things are looking better. She was as high as 40% yesterday, but as low as 28%. She's been hovering around the 34% all day today. I'm told this is just a waiting game and she is alright. But one look at my little girl and you can see that she has more stuff coming off of her than anyone person should.

Mrs. Plow finally got to hold her for the first time yesterday evening. Mr. Plow hasn't had the opportunity yet. We are very thankful that she - other than this problem - is healthy. Strong heartbeat. Active. There are a lot of children in the NICU that are much worse off. It's sad to see them all the way they are.

But, without further ado....here's my sweetheart....

Peyton Ann
Born 8/27/07 @ 9:24pm

Mom was actually released this afternoon. We are staying in a hotel until Peyton gets to go home.

Mom had a c-section at 9pm on Monday and she was up walking from the bed to the bathroom at 8:30am Tuesday. I keep telling everyone that she recovered so quickly because she knew she couldn't see the baby until she could move around.

If she were in labor....yes, that would be dedication. Being that it was a c-section and she wasn't in labor, we could take our time in getting over to the hospital.

2 months. We were really lucky as hell they didn't deliver in the 23rd week. As it was his head was just bigger than a baseball. God has truly looked after us. He is actually over 12 pounds now and we are about to hit 4 months so that is the 2 months equivelency. Here is a couple pics. lil momma was tore up bad, she went through hell. There has been nothing in my life cooler than watching her nuture and love my boy. I have a whole new level of respect for her now going through this the way she did.

Ahhh, some good news today. She came off the cpap machine this morning at 9:15am......and hasn't been back on!!!! She's still receiving oxygen, but getting off that thing is huge.

Hopefully they will continue to lower her oxygen today and then out of NICU tomorrow and into a room with Mrs. Plow and me. Then....God willing.....home Sunday.

A lot of relief today as things are looking a lot better.

I'm giddy. She's came off of the oxygen yesterday. Had a little spout where they put her back on, but come to find out, the sensor wasn't on tight enough and was giving a bad reading. Ever since, been breathing on her own.

Seems to be eating an actual bottle pretty well most of the time. Still has the feeding tube if she doesn't take enough of the bottle, but doing really well.

They are going to move her out of the NICU tomorrow into a "mother/baby" room and then HOPEFULLY home on Tuesday.

My other kids - 3 boys - are having a rough time being away from mom & dad for a week, but they'll be back over tomorrow.

Just wanted to give everyone an update.

Oh Dear God. Please don't say that......

Let me say that on Monday night and Tuesday, I was scared for her. I don't care how common they make it sound, saying your baby is having trouble breathing is not a good thing to hear.

With that said, even with the problems she has had, I feel very lucky to only have those problems. The people next to Peyton are in a much worse situation. Their baby girl - born on Tuesday - has already had 3 surgeries and is on a respirator. The parents are 19 & 20 years old with no insurance, no phones, and no knowledge of what to do or who to turn to. We put a cross in our babies crib the night they move her to the NICU. I went down today and bought one for this young couple. When I gave it to them, the young man broke down into tears. He said he had no idea of what to do. My heart just broke. To be that young and having to deal with something like this, I can't even imagine. I gave him a hug and told him to put his trust in God and to take it one day at a time.

I have grown attached to this little girl and wish there was more that I could do. But, as a special request, please say some prayers for Baby Jessica. She needs them and so do her parents.

I hate to break it to you, but your worrying has only just begun. As a wise man once said: "When you have a boy you have to worry about what he's going to do with his d**k. When you have a girl you have to worry about what every boy in the world is going to do with his d**k."

Hope things continue to improve for everyone.
