All I had to see of that was the first minute to see his fear mongering set in while he sets the rhetorical stage for more war in the ME...ie Iran. He's a fellow at the AEI: insists on WW3, wants curbs on internet speech. Meanwhile our CIA has arrested over 600 terrorists in Pakistan which shows law enforcement techniques have been MORE effective on terror even if we had to break up the camps militarly in Afghanistan.

Then I have to hear Newt say" reorganize our bureaucracies so they are more effective." LoL! He's setting himself up for a presidential run by saying all the right things. But Newt's the real phony.

Is it fear mongering to have someone say that Muslim Radicals control much of the middle east and they want us dead?.....I mean isnt that what they want? So Newt is radical for telling us one more time...its not just Iraq...its Iran, Packistan, afganistan, etc etc etc?

We wont ever be friends with radical muslims. Fact. Write it down. They want you and me and our kids dead.

Not if we get our troops off their land, and our 14 permanent military bases being built in Iraq. Wake up and smell the coffee.

You think we will be friends then? 2000 years of hate toward christians will be wiped away?

We don't need to be thier friends to co-exist and leave them alone but trade with them. We once did business with Ottoman Empire. As for 2000 years of hate towards Christians, what about the 2000 years of hate toward Muslims. Just break the cycle of western meddling in the area an crack a history book while your at it.

You are way wrong. In this day and age we have a thing called nuclear weapons. For us to pull out and let them do what they want is signing a death warrant for EVERY living person in the United States. Back in the Ottoman empire days they had to get close enough to hit you with a rock or stick you with a knife. You can crack all the history books you want but you better realize that history is being written right now.

It's propaganda.

And doing what we're doing will just encourage even more to try to get nukes.

What do we have to trade with. I don't want baskets, opium, spices, camels, hukah pipes, persian rugs.
the oil they are sitting on is all there is there of value. Period.
They know it.

The sooner we have alt fuels the better. At that point they go OPEC themselves to this less fortunate countries that need them.

Wise man.

Take away oil and they live in a worthless sandpit. But Americans are too arrogant and to spoiled to give up v8 engines and huge cars. We wont build rail systems. We are owned by trucking lobby that uses and dstroys highways while taxpayers bleed...and by American egos who wont build nuclear powerplants, and refuse to use wind power. We fall back on such foolish dreams as corn based ethanol becuse we wont make the real move to economy.

Well, I have a wonderful Persian rug. But they can't survive without customers for oil. And we need oil to survive. Its a mutually beneficial exchange. Trade eases tensions more too. This a Republican and a conservative pov.

If they price gauge then the market will just develop alternatives. Necessity is the mother of invention. We've done it before.

Last I looked they are pretty short on farm land . I would assume they are fairly dependant on food imports. Ethanol will not be the answer for us. Unless we find a fuel source to produce it other than corn. Maybe something like tires or tampons.

We choose our dependence on oil. We are not forced.

It was a worthless sandpit before oil. But plenty of sand to make glass.

I Never had a V8. Would love to travel by train, have bike paths.

Support nuclear power, hought the over hyped accidents 3 Mile Island were just that.

Chernoybl that was an deadly accident. but what do you expect with
the Russian life style. Plenty of Vodka daily.

Wind power is increasing and will become viable where cost effective.

Ethanol will ultimately leave less area for food growth. As farmers cash in after being screwed for last 50+ years.

which puts the developing world at risk since we feed them.

I'm a liberal and I'm ok w/this particular speech. Exactly why I was as opposed to sending troops to Iraq on 9/12/01 as I am today. Forget about the middle east. Send all our troops home and put them to work on protecting OUR country. Quit wasting $10B per month on a friggin wasteland.

That sounds like a plan for a police state to me.
