I just picked up a new Alvarez acoustic, and may be doing some live coffeehouse gigs with it in the near future. At this point, it has no pickup installed. Anyone know what the best type and make of acoustic pickup is, balancing cost and quality?

Thanks guys--

Have a Fishman acoustic pickup installed. It replaces the bridge in your acoustic and sounds pretty damn good. No cosmetic changes are necessary.

Hmm.. I've seen some that install across the hole, but replace the bridge? Never heard of that one. Any idea on the cost?

It looks like the new models mount under the bridge. I had one in the 90's that *was* the bridge but it was an L.R. Baggs. I greatly prefer the sound of the Fishman Matrix.

It looks like M.A.P. is $129.99.

Good luck!
