This is about as amusing as it gets...
Facing a draft, Nugent bravely wet his pants
Rocker is all talk as he calls Obama, Hillary vile names
August 27, 2007
BY RICHARD ROEPER Sun-Times Columnist
So Ted Nugent roams a concert stage while toting automatic weapons, calls Barack Obama "a piece of -----" and says he told Obama to suck on one of his machine-guns. He also calls Hillary Clinton a "worthless bitch" and Dianne Feinstein a "worthless whore."
That Nugent, he's a man's man. He talks the talk and walks the walk, right?
Except when it was time to register for the draft during the Vietnam era. By his own admission, Nugent stopped all forms of personal hygiene for a month and showed up for his draft board physical in pants caked with his own urine and feces, winning a deferment. Creative!
Ah, but that was a long time ago. Nugent isn't just a washed-up rocker -- he's a right-wing madman who's not afraid to call out some of the leading Democrats in language so vile it makes the Dixie Chick Natalie Maines' comments about President Bush sound like a love poem.
You'd think even someone such as Sean Hannity would dismiss Nugent as a macho clown, desperate for attention.
Yeah, right.
In a discussion on his show last week, Hannity refused to condemn Nugent's remarks, saying, "I like Ted Nugent . . . he's a friend of mine," and even laughing loudly as Alan Colmes read the transcript of some of Nugent's remarks.
Funny. I don't remember Hannity being so cavalier about the Dixie Chicks went they criticized Bush.
Not that he's operating under a double standard or anything.

The only thing I didn't like about the Dixie Chicks and their comments was that they were made to a foreign audience in a different country. If they would of said it in the US I wouldn't have cared.

I don't personally have a problem with people trying to get out of a draft, however they want to do it. Nobody owes the US government their life to fight in an undeclared war unless they want to volunteer themselves. But to go through the odd ends that Nuge went to in order to win a deferment, and then turn around years later and carry himself the way he does... It's typical, but still reprehensible.

He's a second amendment rights activist not a war hawk. 'Sides, he wasn't that far off his description of anyone of the three.

Our current force is made up of volunteers is it not? And almost to a man (or woman) the volunteers serving in Iraq have had at least one opportunity since the war stated to opt out, right?

I doubt Nugent's attitude toward Obama or Clinton have anything to do with Iraq or war in general.

Considering that Nugent is a huge Bush supporter, anything he says about politics is amusing.

Stop loss? How soon we forget...

So am I. Nugent is a great rocker, a solid second amendment activist, and a pussy who whimped out when his country called. ;)

so where's the Pussification crowd on Nugent running from the Draft?

Relevance? :shake:
Very few people (if any) who were in the army or marines at the beginning of the war in Iraq have not had the opportunity to leave, stop loss notwithstanding.

It's very possible that some of the current pussifiers will eventually turn around and become honorable citizens. You seem to be pretty firmly committed though. :p

Are they the same pussies who got all bent out of shape when the Dixie Chicks spoke against Bush, the same ones who called for boycotts of their albums, who demanded that dj's not play their music, who demanded that dj's who didn't comply with their no-play be fired? Pussification seems to be an element of both sides, doesn't it?

It's ok as long as you agree with them politically.

Dixie Chicks. Pfft. You should’ve heard what Trent Reznor had to say.
The “Chicks”, should pay attention. If you’re gonna bitch, this is how you do it, with music. Hell, write a good protest song and I’ll sing along.

I should add, there’s some language in the video that isn’t work safe, so don’t go blasting your speakers, no matter how much NIN speaks to you. ;)

It's not really about what they said, or how or where they said it, it's about the "keep your opinions to yourself" outrage that it sparked among the right wing. Many of the same people who accuse those speaking out against the Tedmeister of being "pussified," were showing exactly the same "pussified" outrage at the Dixie Chicks. As somebody earlier mentioned, it's all fine and good, as long as you agree with their politics, and the "pussified" crowd is the crowd that doesn't agree with their politics. The shoe's on one foot now with Ted, it was on the other foot with the Dixie Chicks. It's the same smelly shoe.

The republican party IS the party of chickenhawks. That is their modern-day mantle. There's plenty of them on this board. What else would someone expect from a guy like Nugent. He's a chickenhawk.
Just like the republican party is full of closeted hypocritical homosexuals, it's also full of hypocritical chickenhawks who talk like John Wayne but who have acted like pussies when it came time to put their money with their mouth is.
That's just the way it is with phony business suits. They'll start a war but they won't fight one. Just ask George (I got a dental checkup) Bush and Dick (papa chickenhawk) Cheney. They are our fearless leaders. It starts with them but it doesn't stop with them.

Its called compensation. You know I think I would have claimed I was gay or something to get out of the draft. Luckily it ended when I turned 18. But I think Nuge was way to "manly" to be able to do it.
